The Worst Thing About Vacations...

I read somewhere that we get the most psychological and physical benefit from anticipating the vacation, not from the vacation itself. The vacation rarely lives up to expectations and there is the additional disappointment of a return to "real life."

I haven't had a true vacation in a long time. The last time I took one was 6 years ago when I stayed overnight in a motel in Spearfish while I waited for my bike to be fixed. My vacations are actually "staycations" where I stay at home.

This vacation was good in that I didn't have to go to the office, but bad that I wasn't able to relax and get away from work. If that makes sense. Too many e-mails and text messages about stuff that other people in the company should be able to handle after all these years.

The cruise I went on awhile back was much better because I was almost totally cut off from communication.
