Technology moves fast. New, improved, versions of cell phones, laptops, computer and etc come out all the time. I never run out and buy new technology or the "latest greatest" thing right away. I always wait things out...sometimes for years...for prices to drop. Heck, we're still using the TVs that I've had for 10 yrs or more. I have a nice android phone, but waited til the phone was free (w contract) before I got it.

Which are you? Do you have to run out and get the newest stuff, or do you wait on prices to drop?

I do the same thing. I do pester my computer geek friends about all that stuff. It helps to know what I'm getting into.

I wait for the most part. My weakness is the phones. When my two year term is up, I grab the new version. But we didn't even have a computer until about 1998. A huge Gateway. The monitor was about 2 feet deep :laugh

I'm getting a Kendle reader this year. The firt time I looked at them on line, they were nearly $400.

I didn't get a computer til 2001, and it was a used computer from my office. Yeah, monitors were HUGE back then. I toyed with the idea of getting an ereader, but decided against it. My phone does everything they do (and tablets for that matter) so I figured why waste the money? Still, it was a temptation for a couple of weeks. ;)

I wait. I still don't have a flat screen TV. The others work fine, so I see no need to get a new one till these wear out. Still don't have a smart phone (no need). Also, I generally like to see how the product is going to perform, get reviews on it, talk to my ultra-geek friends who are the first to buy, etc., before I make a decision on a new technology. I'm BIG on technology and the improvements in our lives it makes, BUT I live more like a Luddite than most people who know me would think. I like the simple life.

I want right away, but I wait to buy. In general, I keep things until their useful life is over. On a happy note, the waiting means I can afford more expensive stuff.

My 15 year old Sony TV literally fell apart in our hands as we unloaded it at best Buy to be recycled. Oh, and I just bought my first laptop. My cell phone is a cell phone. The computer I am typing this on was bought in 2003, but it's newer than my truck.

Old fart here. I use something until it's broke....I get my money use out of something until it wears out. My desktop is an old 2005, but the monster of a monitor started going out a couple of weeks ago so Santa happened to find a new LED flat screen for me. Although I upgraded my cell phone about a year ago, I don't text nor use it other then to make and receive calls..that's it

I agree with you all. I love new gadgets but I wait til the items I currently have break/die before I buy new. Even then I want the best price I can find...so I'll shop around for a while, unless it's something I can't live without. The only reason I have a "new" cell phone is because my contract was up and the phone I'd been looking at was finally offered for free with contract renewal. I jumped on that...but ya know what? It's already outdated. LOL

It depends on the item. I keep pretty up to date with the computers. I waited on a better smart phone until they had a few with the duel core processors so I could use it (almost) like a tablet. Tablets are a waste for me because I have many purses they would not fit in. :)) I do not have an e reader (kindle, nook) because I truly am a die hard book lover and besides when I fly (for space and then I borrow one) I would not use it. Tv's.. Son has had an LCD in his bedroom for years, yet I waited until last year when the ultra thin LED tv's came out to get one for ours. (It is incredible..after watching it I really wish I had not waited!) I am not big on the 3D tv's. I thought I might like it, but after seeing one movie on it I knew it would be so rarely used I haven't really considered it again.

True...mine aren't either. I really prefer holding a book in my hands. I love books. :love

Some of both, but I lean toward keeping new stuff.

As some of you know, I'm an electronics nut. Especially sound equipment; I am a fanatic. But in the area of sound equipment, I'm more about quality than being latest stuff. I usually upgrade my cell phone annually, but I get good deals through my corporate rep. I typically wear a laptop out in a couple of years. I've been using my desktop at work for 4 years now, but have upgraded some of the hardware and also the OS to Windows 7. I also went to a flat panel monitor. We replaced all the CRT's with flat panels, the CRT's put out too much heat.

I usually wait. I don't get a new phone till the old one quits. I just got an iphone 3g and only got it because it was free with an upgrade..lol

I have a laptop that I have had for about 2 years. I only got it because it was a gift. Our desktop is about 8 years old. We have a flat panel 42 inch tv, but again it was a gift or we would still have a big box tv. My hubby still has a small regular cell phone. He doesn't do internet or texting at all so he is fine with it.

I will say that I am dieing for an ereader. I have wanted a kindle since they came out..but I will not buy it most likely. Have other more important things to pay for so that will have to wait ;D

I wait. However, our 6 year old, 60" projection TV just up and died yesterday. So, today we are going to have to buy a TV for the living room. We're going to get a "make do" TV that we can move to our bedroom later when we can get the one we really want for the living room.

My laptop is 6 years old and I've repaired it a couple of times because I like it. It was purchased when my desktop and laptop were ruined in a basement flood.

My phone was the latest, greatest 1 1/2 years ago, but my contract was up and it was time for a new one. I still like it. Not sure if I will upgrade this summer or not.

Don't need an ereader, I rarely take time to read.
