Supreme Court hearing Mississippi abortion case that could overturn Roe v. Wade: LIVE UPDATES

So, this is happening. Listening to the talking heads, a surprising amount of them have admitted that there wasn't a lot of law in the original decision. Meaning, it was a poor decision.

Having said, I suspect the justices are under extreme pressure to NOT overturn it.

So I don't know what to expect.

Been watching some of the debate. It's really fascinating; if I didn't have so much work to do I could listen all day.

I will be shocked if they vote to overturn. If they do you bet your bottom dollar they will go after the 2nd Amendment with a vengeance, even if they have to stack the court to achieve it.

I fear this will charge up the liberals to come out and vote with a vengeance in 2022, and 2024 to take back the power to overthrow any laws regarding abortion.

The liberals need a good cause, the woman's body is no "man's" business and the killing of unborn children gets them all to agree.

Right now it may look like conservatives will come out ahead in 2022, if Roe v Wade is overturned, it will bring out all sorts to come vote in the next elections to make sure they can stack the courts with Judges who re-write the laws instead of use the constitution to uphold the laws.

JUSTICE SOTOMAYOR: Evidence of fetal pain is not proof of life

These same people who will tell you boiling a lobster is inhumane

Justice Thomas mentions that 23 states and D.C. consider substance abuse during pregnancy to be child neglect.

Pro-choice lawyer Rikelman responds by saying that the detail is irrelevant to the case.

So pain is meaningless? A heartbeat isn't proof either apparently, so I guess emts & shit should just stop checking pulses & declare everyone who's laying down as dead. From 1-10 how much pain you in.. meaningless too I guess?

Precisely. I'd like to know what do these ppl consider proof of life. I'm convinced that they believe that proof of life is "fluid", meaning it depends on where's their next goal post.

Where would Pfizer get the dead baby parts for their vaccine?

If a single celled organism was found on Mars would that be considered life?

Wth? Pain is proof of a nervous system, which is proof of life

Yeah, I heard some interesting language this morning. It was clear that some of the justices didn't want to overturn Roe.

Sotomier made this big speech about how they couldn't appear political, and the whole while she was sounding political.

They'll do nothing....nothing I say. The good news is that the result of them doing nothing will not make things any worse than things are currently. The bar is deliberately set low and they still can't get over it.

Probably turn it back to each state.

13 weeks pregnant: fetal development

Your baby is now the length of a pea pod, about 7.4cm (2.9in) from head to bottom (crown to rump). He weighs nearly 23g (0.8oz).

Tiny fingerprints unique to your baby are forming on his fingers. Their final pattern will be set by the time you reach mid pregnancy. Now that he’s discovered how to suck, he’ll be busy practising his new skills. He may even be sucking his thumb.

Loops of intestines, which have been developing in the umbilical cord where it joins your baby's tummy, have moved into his abdomen.

Your baby is beginning to swallow amniotic fluid. The fluid is mostly water, but it also includes protein, carbohydrates, fats, and enzymes. Any remaining fluid is turned into urine by his kidneys, which he will wee back into the amniotic fluid.

If your baby's a boy, his testicles have now formed, and his penis is growing. If you're having a girl, her ovaries are developing and already contain about 2 million eggs.

Well, you guys probably know that I'm adamantly Pro Life. But I know many feel differently.

Just how stupid does someone have to be to not realize rocks and water can't feel pain, but even the simplest forms of life can?

Overturning Roe vs Wade would turn it back to the states. It would still allow individual states to allow infanticide.

Yep, Caladamnfornia will have abortion tourism like they have birth tourism...

One you have your baby to become an American and all the freebees that come with it... the other you end the life of the kid... what a country, what a State.

Although, Trump did try to end Birth Tourism, but I bet they hand out birth certificates anyway under Slow Joe and the Ho's administration:

Birth Tourism Update

Last Updated: January 23, 2020

Effective January 24, the Department is amending its B nonimmigrant visa regulation to address birth tourism. Under this amended regulation, U.S. consular officers overseas will deny any B visa application from an applicant whom the consular officer has reason to believe is traveling for the primary purpose of giving birth in the United States to obtain U.S. citizenship for their child. Please visit the Federal Register website for additional information.

This is something I hadn't thought about, and you may very well be right. reading your post set me back and I had to think long and hard about it.

But, I have to follow my conscious here and hope and pray Roe will be overturned. I don't think it will go that far, but I truly hope it does. Abortion is a horrific act that people who are guided by love and respect of human life must stand against. That's my sincere opinion and I'm sticking to it. Sometimes you gotta make a stand, and this is my time.

It is my impression that medically we know so much more about fetal development. In 1970, there were no sonograms. I think the courts will send it to the States. We can save a child who is born around 21 weeks now. If it goes to the states and people vote on it, I suspect there will be a shortened window to have an abortion done. It will save some children.

Sadly, I think there will be those who will drink bleach, put a coat hanger up their cervix, or do other harm to cause their body to abort the baby... the desperate will still end their pregnancy... they may lose their life in the process.

There are "Plan B" pills, I suspect more women will just take those like they do multi vitamins.

This is the hot button issue of all hot button issues. The best thing the right can do is stay the hell away from the subject until after elections. It is a no win minefield that energizes the left (and independents) like nothing else. I agree SCOTUS will probably hand the hot potato back to the states. On a side note that dumbass Sotomier compared abortion to pulling the plug on a brain dead patient. Wow, if a conservative came close to that statement they would be canceled by night fall.
