Governor Moon Beam may have to back away from being a sanctuary state?:connie1:

Jerry Brown Asks Donald Trump For California Storm Disaster Declaration

Brown has already declared a state emergency in 49 counties.

Most of the damage has occurred to roads, bridges, dams and water control and filtration systems, according to Brown’s letter, which estimates damages of $162 million for the January storms. Bad weather is continuing to wallop California this month.

A disaster declaration frees up federal funds to help pay for damage. Presidents usually respond positively to such requests, but Trump is an unconventional commander-in-chief. Last week, he called California “out of control― though he didn’t explain exactly what he meant. Trump also threatened to block federal funds if California goes ahead with plans to become a sanctuary state for immigrants.

For now he does, but remember that once they leave the US, all the Federal Income tax raised stays in state assuming they keep the rates the same. In 2014, California collected the most Federal income tax (Personal and Business) of all the states supplying 369.2 billion dollars to the Feds, just over 12% of the total collected. All that income would be Brown's to spend if he was president of Republic of California.

Of course, California spends most that already, with total Federal spending in the state of $333.8 billion in 2010. Now I suspect that number would drop a bit when the US removed all the armed services bases from CA soil after a split. I'm sure the libs will be talking about their "right" to the equipment and protection, but tough snot as far as I'm concerned. It would be interesting to see if they replaced the border patrol on their southern border.

Anyway, my point is that CA has not choice but to ask now, but after the split should have the cash of it's own.

This isn't where Trump should want to make his stand. He should make it through HHS, dropping all aid by the percentage of illegals in the state, thus saying that if you want them, you take care of them.
I hate to admit it but you're right, this is not the place to draw a line in the sand (which of course means that Trump certainly will). As much as I despise CA and the libtards who love it (no, I don't apologize for using that term), it is still part of our country and our citizenry affected by the crisis.
