Successful Experiment in HDR Photography!

Resident of the least visited state in the nation.
When I first moved to North Dakota, I lived in the town of Westhope which was about 6 miles south of the Canadian border. It was smaller than my current town, but not as remote and had enjoyed an era of great prosperity during the 1960s and 1970s. When I moved there, the economy was terrible and everything was frozen in time.

I attended church there in a Presbyterian church. The congregation wasn't much larger than the rural church I attend now, but the building was incredible. When I visited over Easter break, I took HDR pictures of parts of the building. I'm really thrilled with how most of them turned out (except for the building itself). I hope to do the same for my current church, although the subject isn't nearly as impressive. (My current church doesn't even have running water!)

By the way, for those who are fans of HDR, my preference is realistic HDR.

This is the building: the worst picture of the bunch. It was the wrong time of day, and either green grass or snow would have made a better setting.

The sanctuary of this church is incredible. It's really sad how empty it is.

The fireside room is for adult gatherings (and adult Sunday School). I was really surprised to discover that it includes a bar (which is not stocked). The bar is behind the curtain.

There is a small chapel in the church. It is furnished with the furniture from the old church. It is about the size of my current church. It was rarely used.

After services, we would gather for coffee and cookies and socialize. My current church does this too, although in more humble surroundings.

The entry to this church was incredible. These final two pictures show it from two directions.

Additionally, the building boasts a really nice kitchen, a nursery, an office, and a number of classrooms. It's a fantastic facility and I always thought it could be a private school. Unfortunately, the area doesn't have sufficient population even for the local public school -- one of the reasons I left.

That is beautiful. (and your photography is not have bad either! ;) ) I love for a church to look like that. I know you can worship anywhere, but it is something about the pews and the alter, the windows the sanctuary....just can not be beat.
