Stimulus bill

Boss 302

Pursuit Driver
The Democrats prove once again they suffer from selective listening. They heard Trump loud and clear when he said $600 was not enough for the American people and that he wanted to see them get $2,000. They jumped on the $2,000 bandwagon eager to pass that.

The Republicans in Congress don't sound to keen on the idea of increasing the $600 to $2,000; but do seem interested in eliminating the wasteful spending in the bill.

In reality, the bill should have just contained those items directly related to boosting our economy through this pandemic. Giving all this money to foreign countries does nothing for our economy.

I find it interesting that Americans are all a little Pissed that the Covid relief for America turned into a slimy foreign pay off.

Prior to Trump, and his USA first policy, I don't think many in the USA felt they could say that outloud.

Everyone knows those countries, who will be given American Taxpayer money, will give the politicians in the USA kickbacks in contracts for USA politician's relatives.

None of the foreign investment money ever gets to normal citizens, it goes to corrupt leaders just like our politicians.

NGO's are the only organizations that ever effect any change in other countries.

It appears the Republicans are against Trump's $2,000 but in favor of eliminating the waste from the bill. The Democrats claim they are all for the $2,000 but against eliminating the wasteful spending. Once again, the people in this country are getting screwed by both parties. The compromise would be to pass the $2,000 and eliminate the wasteful spending. A bill for Covid relief should contain nothing else.

Now that Congress passed the increased stimulus the Rep Senate has no choice but to pass it. Unless, of course, they want to kiss the majority away with a Georgia run-off loss.

Which makes me wonder if Trump is really a Conservative since he kicked this whole thing off.

There are no conservatives anymore, not with a $27T and rising debt level.

Kiss the Senate goodbye!!!

They can keep the $2k and scrap the whole damn plan as far as I am concerned. I was against the first stimulus and I am against this one. Hear this and hear it good (not directed at you Boss) , Waste Is What They Do, both parties, all politicians. Neither party will do jack shite to help the working man or the working man's next three generations. They will sell their mommy in a $2 whorehouse for a vote.

Trump? Conservative? :rofl::rofl::rofl:
Wasn't Trump more conservative than you thought he would be? He surprised me for sure.

In regards to the covid relief package.
How can politicians impose sanctions and restrictions on individuals and small businesses that in turn destroy them & then leave them hanging out to dry?

(let me answer my own question).

Because there's no gain, or money, for them politically to do so.

If we’re going to send billions overseas and also spend millions here on stupid crap then, sure, send $2k to those who were directly affected by shutdowns. The problem with the later is that everyone will claim they were affected.

Why send money overseas ?

"because that's what we've always done" is not a great answer

(rhetorical question)

That’s the $100,000.00 question, but if we are then let’s also send some to our people who need it.

Guess what is going to happen when congress realizes that these shut down businesses are creating a hole in their tax base? I'll give you a hint,,, we all just made it into the top 1% of wage earners,,, like it was part of their plan all along.
Somewhere I heard about a $34billion tax on gun owners, anyone else read that?

Trump looks at things in relation to business, what is good or bad for business. I don't think he is conservative, or progressive.

I do believe he does care about this country and the people of this country. I think that is why he makes decisions that later he reverses when he connects the outcome to how it affects the people of the USA.

He also knows the dems do things to purposely set up the country to have to later pay for their poor leadership. He knows all the Dem Governors can't wait to ask Pelosi for money to help their states that they shut down during covid... while other states did not do that or damage their states economy so dramatically.

Well, I'm mostly with you. Definitely agree about the pork spending.

The only reason I halfway agree with the stimulus checks is because government forced many of the business shutdowns, resulting in job losses. IMO, some of that wasn't necessary, and we could have done far less damage to the economy than we did. So government bears some responsibility for the damage that was done. But, of course, making amends for that falls on the backs of taxpayers, so in that sense, government is us.

I shutter to think how much money this country will owe when all this is over. Yet our government will continue to spend what we don't have, and drive debt even higher.

Mitch McConnell pisses me the heck off. He thought nothing of the wasteful spending that was included in the stimulus bill that recently passed. Hell, he supported it. He thought giving $10M to Pakistan, a Muslim country for gender studies was a good idea? Money to Venezuela to support their democracy initiatives? Egypt getting $1.3B in aid?

McConnell thought nothing of foreign countries getting the better end of the stimulus package over Americans who are suffering through this pandemic. In the long run, McConnell is no better than Pelosi. Both are prime examples of why there should be term limits.

Looks like the $2000 checks are dead. While I don't necessarily disagree with the reasons behind blocking it, I wonder what the political repercussions will be.
