She turned 53 yesterday and she doesn’t look a day older than 21 or 22. She is well into her midlife but you would never know it to look at her. She still has the far too perfect measurements that she had in 1959.
There has been no plastic surgery or at least no one knows about it. They say she has always looked plastic and maybe that is the secret. Her girls are still standing attention and her hair is still full and shiny.
Barbara Millicent Roberts, known to her friends as Barbie made her first debut at a toy fair in 1959. She has made great strides in her life. Career wise, holding several occupations throughout the years with perhaps the highest being a doctor and astronaut.
She has apparently been quite successful but when it comes to men…that’s another story. Ken Sean Carson walked into her life in 1961. After 51 years of dating, Barbie still has no ring on her finger and has yet to hear a proposal of marriage.
Her handlers have brought her through each decade quite beautifully. She has always kept herself current in the latest fashion and trends. I am afraid tho that they are not being realistic.
I looked online to see what some of her current accessories are. No where did I see a portable hand held fan, a box of estroven, or a notepad. Come on Mattel she is 53! She has surely come into or is getting very close to that period in life that she is experiencing hot flashes, forgetfulness, lack of sleep and mood swings. I wonder how ol’ Ken will cope with those mood swings? And she still hasn’t gained those unloseable midlife 10 pounds.
In just a few years Barbie will be in her 60’s. Will Mattel put out the appropriate accessories then…one of those little red scooters to get around the mall, a magnifying glass and a box of Depends?
Oh by the way Barbie, be sure to bring the pink ‘vette around to the front of the dream house because Ken needs you to drive him to his colonoscopy appointment.
