Sales Calls Robo Style

I don't want a credit card and don't need a credit card and I have even hit the number to call back to tell them that. I am on a no call list and that does not matter. I am getting 5 calls a week at least. If I have AT &T land line removed at my house it will be because they won't help to stop this and if I go to cell the company doing it can't harass me any longer. Any ideas on how to to make them stop????

Until recently you had to re-register every two years or so at the DoNotCallList, so you might need to do that.

Regardless, there's no teeth in the law. We kept our land line for the alarm system, but we cut the service to bare minimum and use it for nothing else. We don't even have the ringer on.

Telemarketers are helping to kill the land line business. They slam us at work all day long, absolutely ridiculous at times. I'm not sure what the solution is, but something has to give.

I wish there was a way to convince everyone to not do business with telemarketers. I don't mind telling them at work...I wouldn't do business with them if they had the greatest product on earth.

I get telemarketers and junk texts on my cell pretty frequently. I'm on the do not call list and they don't care.

I think that something like two or three companies have been prosecuted nationwide since the do not call list went into effect. It's worthless, and the shysters caught on fast.

We kept our landline mainly for the alarm too. I also use it for work, but the bulk of it was for the alarm. We also have the bare minimum and keep the ringer off unless I am working....it certainly helps!

When I do have the ringer on and the telemarketers call, I inform them that this is a business line and they quickly agree to take the number off their call list.

Wish I could do that. These are robo calls. I can hang up on them after they disturb my peace but there is no one on the other end of the line. Congressman Gingrey is sponsoring a bill that will allow robo call to cell phones.

POLITICAL robo calls is what he wants you to receive. Charities and politicians or their election committees are already exempt from the "DO Not Call" law. He wants politicians to be exempt from the restriction on calls to known cell numbers too. Of course, what he wants will help himself, just like all politicians.

Did you know that call blocking does not apply to businesses? Thought that would help but NO!

One thing you can do is put Privacy Director on your phone. Most telemarketers block their caller ID, and Privacy Director lets you reject those calls.

Of course it's an extra charge.

Any telemarketer or political person that calls my cell phone will get their head taken off. It rings too much as it is; I sure don't want unwelcome people calling.

One of his reasons for sponsoring it, according to a staff member, is so your bank can call you if you are overdrawn. Think if I was over drawn I would not have a cell phone.

YOUR bank can already call you. Any business that has an ESTABLISHED relationship with a customer can call them. Apparently he is not only a self help legislataion kind of politician, but he is a lying one too.

They can do that anyway; just list your cell number in your account info.

He did not say that one of his staff did.
