The great Aretha Franklin is gravely ill in Detroit. The family is asking for prayers and privacy.

Originally diagnosed with cancer in 2010, Aretha, who turned 76 in March, bravely battled back and refused to be knocked out by illness. Her last performance as on November 2, 2017 for the Elton John AIDS Foundation in New York. Her final public performance was at Philadelphia’s Mann Center in August 2017. It was a miraculous show as Aretha was already then fighting exhaustion and dehydration.

Aretha is surrounded by family and people close to her.

Miss Aretha has passed. There will probably never be another with her talent, dignity and charm.

Rest in Peace, Aretha Franklin!

She was one of the finest, most powerful voices in music and a fine person. I remember several years ago she replaced Pavorati (sp?) at an awards show and absolutely nailed it. She nailed opera on two hours notice. Amazing. She will be missed.

No question she had the pipes!

What made her great...
Was her character and professionalism.
Few, and I mean very few entertainers today...
Are near as professional as the ones from that era!
