For "Mental Health" reasons.

If I had to play with that poor excuse of a football team, I'd have mental issues too.

Of course, this will just make them worse...

ATLANTA — Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley announced Sunday that he will be stepping away from football to focus on his mental health.

“These past few weeks have been very challenging, and as much as I’d like to be on the field competing with my teammates, I need to step away from football at this time and focus on my mental wellbeing,” Ridley wrote on Twitter. “This will help me be the best version of myself now and in the future.”

Ridley thanked his friends and family. He did not say how long he will be away from the team.

Ridley missed his second game of the season on Sunday to deal with a “personal matter.” He also did not travel with the team to London.

I kinda agree with Ridley... money isn't worth dying for, but sometimes mental health issues can lead to death (think Junior Seau). Sports injuries, particularly concussions can lead to anger, rage, depression, dementia and even suicide.

So, hopefully Calvin Ridley can get his mind right and move on to living life. There's much more to life than getting slammed to the turf for money.

PS The Atlanta Falcons stink and have let fans down since 1966...some things just never change regardless of who's coaching, who's playing, or even who's watching.

It will only change when people turn off the TV and stop paying for the trash.
