Public Meeting Notice

Paulding County hereby gives notice that a public meeting will be held to discuss a wastewater improvement project funded by Georgia’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund CWSRF on January 11, 2022 at 10:00 am in the Watson Government Complex Second Floor – Board of Commissioners Meeting Room at 240 Constitution Boulevard, Dallas, Ga 30132.

The proposed project includes construction of a gravity sanitary sewer line to eliminate the use of existing septic systems. The Target Area lies within the City of Hiram, Georgia along Hiram Douglasville Highway (Georgia State Route 92), between Nebo Road and Mill Creek. This Target Area lies within a sanitary sewer basin that is serviced by the Hiram Lift Station and sewer line, which is operated and maintained by the Paulding County Water System. The existing poor septic condition for this Target Area cannot support any additional development, thereby limiting economic growth in this commercial corridor along a State Route. Constructing a gravity sanitary sewer in the Target Area will provide reliable sanitary sewer service to existing users and will allow for economic development by expansion of sanitary sewer service in both the Target Area and a Future Area in the northwest corner of the City Sewer Service Area. The anticipated cost of the project is $1,789,090.

The purposes of the public meeting are to:

1) Inform the public of the need for improvements to the County's wastewater system.
2) Comply with Section 391-3-6-.02 of Georgia's Water Quality Control Rules (and amendments thereto).
3) Encourage public involvement in the development of a plan to improve the wastewater system.

During the public meeting the County will attempt to identify public preferences for alternative methods of improving the County's wastewater facilities. These alternatives will be evaluated and included in the County's Facilities Planning and Environmental Review Document, the major planning document covering the gravity sanitary sewer. These documents are available for public inspection through the date of the public meeting at 3844 Atlanta Highway during the normal business hours.

Your participation is encouraged and considered essential to the selection and development of the final plan to be adopted prior to its approval by the State of Georgia, Department of Natural Resources.
