Prayers for Hettinger-Scranton

I don't usually do this, but the boys of the Hettinger-Scranton basketball team need your prayers. 28 from their team are in the hospital.

On the way to a game, their bus hit a gust of wind and rolled over 1 and 1/2 times.

The New England school district was kind enough to provide transport to an area hospital. Several, including coaches, who sustained more serious injuries were transported by ambulance. It sounds like their basketball season is over.

The idea of this kind of accident terrifies me. They're not my students, but they need your prayers. It can happen so quickly.

Prayers going up. :pray The wind here was brutal the other day, flipping a bus is some strong gusts.

I wanted to offer an update. We will be playing Hettinger-Scranton next Friday. They think they'll have enough uninjured kids to play an A-squad game, and hope to have enough cleared to also play a B-Squad game. I'm thrilled that they can finish their season, even if they don't have the full team (and one coach is still in hospital).

I've attached a photograph (not mine) of the front of the bus. Remember that the bus rolled 1.5 times.

After the accident, a large group of parents and students showed up at the bus driver's house to thank him for his efforts to keep the accident from being worse. They credit him for the miraculously low injury count.
