New Jersey Residents Can Vote By Email Or Fax, Governor Chris Christie Says

TRENTON, N.J. -- New Jersey will allow residents displaced by Superstorm Sandy to vote by email or fax.

Officials announced Saturday that registered voters can vote electronically. A resident must submit a mail-in ballot application by fax or email to the local county clerk.

When the request is received, a ballot will be emailed or faxed back. Ballots must be returned no later than 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Given that this is a form of voting already in place for others (those overseas and in the military) I can't really say too much about it. It's not like they're accepting votes without required forms and if they don't have a voter ID law ... :dunno

Oops ... you said "wise ones" ... sorry. :soashamed

:spitchick LOL! I read a few blogs, comments, and other boards that people have brought up spoofing and questions regarding easier voter fraud. I do not know, so I put it out here.

If this was a toss up state, I would be very worried. But It doesn't matter if NJ goes for Barry by 60% or 90%. I think it will make a good test case for this type of absentee voting though.

:thumbsup Thanks. I did not even think about the "doesn't matter if NJ goes to Barry by 60% or 90%" so I do think it will be great to see how this works out on a larger scale. (then just those overseas/military)

The last I knew, the only way for military and other US personnel overseas to vote was via absentee ballot. If the ballot didn't arrive from your hometown, you could fill out a federal ballot and mail it to your county election board. It wouldn't have the local races on it from your hometown, but you could fill that information in, but it was up to your local election board if they would or wouldn't accept the local races you wrote in. By law, they did have to accept your federal election votes for president and Congress.
