Never Say Never-Trump: Biden leaves GOP moderates with 'no alternative' but to back former president

I get why people don't like the guy. What I don't understand is the "logic" of throwing one's vote away when Trump is clearly the better choice between he and Biden (the only two viable candidates).

Why do you believe someone is illogical and "throwing their vote away " when they vote based on their convictions and principles?

Because not voting or voting for a non-viable candidate only helps the worst candidate win.

It's simple math, really.
A simple trip to Wal-Mart will tell you all you need to know. It’s an accurate reflection of our electorate.

I’m not making fun of it, we literally just left the one in VR. I couldn’t get back to the truck fast enough.

So, voting for someone who you feel is the best choice for president is not necessarily a viable candidate.

From RCP betting odds. DeSantis' odds of becoming president, according to the bookies, is 0.0. Worse than Trump, Biden, Newsom, Kennedy, Big Mike, Heels Up Harris, Haley, and Phillips (who?).

So yeah, I believe that is the very definition of non-viable. `

Hopefully, he'll get a real chance in 2028.

I looked up the definition of nonviable (apparently no hyphen in it)

What odds do you give DeSantis to win the presidency this time? 50/50 (win/lose), 25/75?
Here's my opinion. Of all the GOP candidates going into the primary, the most viable candidate was DeSantis. In four years as a governor, he had more accomplishments than Trump did as president for four years.

The reality of the matter is that Trump supporters fell hook, line, and sinker for the "no way Trump could have lost, so the Dems cheated" BS. This hoax was propagated by Trump and his team of lawyers, headed by Giuliani, to fuel the fire for revenge. This entire election isn't about doing what's best for the country. It's about Trump getting his revenge on the GOP side and keeping Trump out of the WH on the Dems side. The losers are the voters as we are caught in the political crossfire. We lose if the left wins, and we lose if Trump wins. Make America great again. Riiiiiiiiiiiight.

"Was". That ship sailed, the voters chose Trump for this time around. DeSantis has no chance in the next POTUS election.

Unless the Dems replace Biden, which I think unlikely at this point; Either Trump or Biden will be the next president. Period, end of story. So yes, voting for someone other than those two is a wasted vote. And no, you're not sending anyone a message, at least not one you should be proud of. You're not helping to build a 3rd party. All you're doing is wasting a vote that could, at the very least, go to the lessor of evils.

That's reality. If you can make a logical argument that I'm wrong, I'll listed.

The only vote wasted is the one not cast. Also, who the heck are you to tell anyone that if they don't vote for Trump, they are wasting their vote? I guess I wasted 30 years and four combat tours for the right to vote for whoever I want to vote for.

Brain Fart!!! What if Kennedy had formed an alliance with DeSantes to be his VP? That is a combo that could suck both parties dry, and if you put the Never Trumpers together with the independents and disgruntled democrats, you could come up with substantial numbers.

Never happen. DeSantis is not gonna play second fiddle, especially with Kennedy. If he did, it would be with Trump, and I seriously doubt that will happen either.

Do you not understand the basic premise of the words "What if"? There is an old saying that "Politics makes strange bedfellows", because just when you think things can get any stranger, a political strategist will find a way.
Never say 'Never' in politics,,, and, "All things are negotiable"!

I’ll let ya’ll hash out all of the “would’ve, could’ve, should’ve” as I’m pretty sure we’ve covered all of these topics at least a dozen times since the discussion of the 2024 Primaries began.

Just go vote, or stay home…it really doesn’t matter. Just go vote for your candidate, or against another…it really doesn’t matter. Just go vote for one listed on the ballot or write-in the name of who you would like to see lose anyway...it really doesn’t matter. This is Merica, they’ll let us know who they’ve selected to next hold the title.
