My weekend...

Stunt Driver
I've felt like crap all week, the Chief gave me her head cold. I'm on the guard staff at the Shrine Temple and we're doing a haunted house and I have to be there tonight. Tomorrow morning early, I'm taking Liesl (my mini dachshund) for company and driving to Alabama. It doesn't like a big deal but you can't get to Alabama from Savannah. Two lane blacktop most of the way. I'm not looking forward to it. :faint

I feel your pain!

So, to help you make some lemonade....the leaves are beautiful! Put on some great music and enjoy the view/ride!

Hope you feel better, but a beautiful fall drive with your little minidach and some relaxing music might give you a kick in the butt and get your mind on the right track of how blessed you are! You are blessed just to have a sweet passenger! :love Safe travels.

It will be convertible weather tomorrow afternoon.
Very good point, I probably should take the convertible. I'll probably take the truck so I won't have to listen to the whining from the Chief. I was just mapping the route (I haven't made the trip from here before) and I'll pass through every podunk town from Cordele to Eufalua. Ever been to Smithville?

You are absolutely right. We'll just take our time and enjoy the ride. My grand daughters are in Alabama, one reason for the trip. My traveling companion will sit in my lap the whole way. I appreciate it.

Would I know if I had? ;D

Tell the Chief to put her scarf on, listen to the tunes, and watch the pretty scenery. Yeah, that's the ticket. :angel

The Chief isn't going, she will be will working. She wanted to stay home with Cheyenne, our TV watching German Shepherd and the other girls. That's why she would fuss if I took the convertible because she ain't goin'. Our pet sitter canceled at the last minute.
I'll take a picture of Smithville for you, if there is anything to take a picture of. I may not realize that I'm there.

Oh, that sucks. I had to drive once from Bainbridge, GA to Augusta, GA. Ohhhhhhh that was boring. I was afraid I was going to break down. It was turrible.

I wish you safe travels, and an uneventful but beautiful ride!

It will be a long morning. I-16 from Savannah to Cochran, then west to Eufalua. It even sounds boring. Maybe it won't be as long as it seems.

I'm home! The trip wasn't bad at all. Nothing but cotton fields, pecan trees and boneyards most of the way. I should have taken the convertible. I thought about it the whole trip.

Glad you had a good trip, but sorry you were sans convertible. That is a beautiful car. A friend of mine has one just like it. I'm jealous. ;)

Thanks! I bought it as my retirement present to me. It isn't practical for much but it is loads of fun to drive. I have my firefighter tags on it (just in case) because sometimes you just have to turn the horses loose.

Did you go through Albany or Moultrie? Or is that too far south? OH man, there is a place on 300 that smokes their own meats. I can't think for the life of me what their name is. Whenever I had to go to Albany I took a cooler and stopped in this place and loaded up on stuff. They have the best jerky. Ooohhhh now I am starving.

To far south. I went the Leslie/Smithville/Dawson/Cuthbert route. Albany is 40 or so miles south. I crossed 300 and I have been known to make a detour. If you can rack your brain for a name, let me know. It does sound good. Maybe I can find out. I'll be making the trip pretty often.

Found it! I usually went to the Moultrie location. I had no idea they had other locations as well. It took me forever to find this, LOL. It's called Striplings. I kept thinking Sticklands.

Their jerky is like none other. It is sooooooo yum.
I saw that place! They have a location on 280 between Cordele and Lake Blackshear. I went by it but didn't stop. The parking lot was packed. I'll bet it is the same operation.
