I had kinda forgotten about her until her pic came up on Facebook. She released an album in the late 70s that was a massive hit. Such a clear and smooth voice!

My mother used to enjoy watching Hee Haw...From Roy Clark & Buck Owens to Junior, Lu Lu, Grandpa Jones and Minnie Pearl. The entire cast was always full of fun and laughter.

A ton of musical talent was in that show. Most people have no clue just how talented Roy, Grandpa, and Buck were as musicians, as well as others who regularly frequented the show.

Jesus Is Just Alright was written by Art Reynolds as a gospel song and recorded by his Art Reynolds Singers in 1966. Most of us, as I have heard The Doobie Brothers cover, think it was the original. It was covered on an album before them by The Byrds. Other groups have also covered it since The Doobie Brothers. Robert Reynolds and The Family Band released a cover of it as well. Eric Clapton is playing the lead guitar on that cover.

I prefer the DC Talk version

I never cared for whatever he call himself at the time but years later I realized just how talented of an artist and musician he was. His talent and stage presence is often overlooked.
He was an awesome guitarist. He gave a heck of a performance on While My Guitar Gently Weeps during the Tribute to George Harrison concert. He starts at the 0:3:30 mark.

I have seen the whole tribute concert and it is very good. I am a big Tom Petty fan so him being so present made it even better. The Prince solo is impressive and he was a great musician. In that case I think he was a little over the top "showing off" bringing attention to himself instead of paying tribute to George. TP did not look happy. The clip above with Eric playing a Les Paul is interesting. Eric pretty much plays Strats like George is playing so the tone is interesting. This solo is Eric's even though it was George's song on the White Album. Eric is the solo on the track on the original White Album. There are only two musician's on Beatles albums with credits besides the fab four and that is Billy Preston and Eric. The band in this video is impressive. George, Ringo, Eric, Elton, Jeff Lynn, Phil Collins and Ray Cooper to name a few.

Here's a clip with the solo played by Prince near the 3:30 mark. Both versions are very good and, like Stonewall pointed out, there was some showboating in both versions but much more from Prince although I suspect it was a planned part of the set. He was talented though, part of his gig was being a showboat. Funny to think back in the day I preferred that music but now bluegrass or bluegrass gospel. I'm getting old.
