This is a grant-funded position that is renewed on a year-to-year basis depending on available


funding. The Mental Health Court Coordinator’s primary duties are to manage, coordinate, and plan the operations of the Mental Health Court and to assist the Judge. The Mental Health Coordinator is responsible for managing daily administrative operations, maintaining and distributing timely program information, managing and coordination of each participant’s program, budgeting and grant writing. More specifically coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Accountability Court with the treatment provider. Monitors fiscal year expenditures to ensure accountability programs spend budget and grant funds at proper levels and time, tracks expenses of program and reports on a monthly basis to the Judge. Ensures vendors, treatment providers, and oversee contracts to meet the needs and requirements of Accountability Courts as defined by the Presiding Judge. Establishes memorandums of understanding/compliance between the office/court and selected contractors and/or approved vendors. Seeks grant opportunities and works with justice system stake holders to identify resources. Writes, edits, and submits timely grant applications on behalf of the court. Prepares various statistical, financial, and other reports as needed by the Court or required by granting agencies.



*NOTE: This position is a Non-Civil Service position, serving at the pleasure of the Superior Court Judge administering the program. The employment relationship is “at-will”, meaning that either the employee or Paulding County may terminate employment at any time, and for any or no reason, or there is no contractual agreement as to employment duration.



Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Services or related area.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a legal, clinical, or case management setting, court mandated program services, counseling services, or a related field. Preferred experience working with the criminal justice population and counseling/case management, or a related field.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Grant writing experience
  • Direct experience and knowledge of the accountability court model and community health disciplines.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Licensure or certification in clinical, substance abuse, mental health, evidence-based programming, or court management field
  • Public speaking skills and experience
