Knee-Jerk reactions are SO predictable...

When the BP Oil spill happened, I wish I'd have had a video of me telling the lovely and gracious Mrs. Reacher that the govt, ESPECIALLY THIS ONE, would use it as an excuse to stop domestic drilling. And of course they rode that pony for as long as they could and are still riding it.

Now of course it's all the cries against nuclear power plants. Come to think of it, it's a wonder we have any transportation at all. I mean the plane crashes and car wrecks that take place on a constant basis. Let's not forget trains and motorcycles! HEAVEN FORBID!

Then again you may work for a company that does the same thing. Anything that goes wrong generates a memo or policy change. It's also known as management by memo. In general, people are so fickle these days I'm surprised we even leave the house. ::)

I have news for these idiots...

Whomever controls energy controls the world.

I'd prefer that be us.

This morning Stephanopolis interviewed some guy as an "expert" on nuclear power. He was an environmentalist and the President of the Plowshares Fund, an anti-nuke group.

Every news outlet from ABC to CNN has been grossly misusing the term "meltdown". The Japanese reactors are in danger of losing their fuel rods to overheating. this could cause , worst case scenario, a puddle of fuel rods at the bottom of the reactor core, necessitating entombment. There is no nuclear fission occurring in any affected plant. They are completely and successfully shut down. There is a serious residual heat problem. There is practically zero chance of a release of radioactivity that could have any health or environmental problems outside of the site as neither the inner or outer containment vessels are in danger of failure. this is not "The China Syndrome". As long as they are able to continue to pump in sea water, there may even be a chance of conventional clean-up of the reactor site, albeit an expensive one.

A democratic Senator on the Energy Committee called for an immediate end of all permitting of Nuclear Power Plants, calling the Japanese cooling failures a "modern day Chernobyl", and saying the exact same thing could happen here.

If you want to outlaw something, start with diesel generators. That's what failed.

I was listening to an interesting fact today on the radio. More people in this country have been killed in accidents involving windmills than nuclear power plants. The US Navy has been using nuclear powered ships and subs since the 1950s and have not had one single incident revolving a meltdown, radiation exposure, etc.

Next thing you know, the Democrats will blame the oil companies for any perceived problems with nuclear power plants.

I say a moratorium on wind mills is called for IMMEDIATELY!

I wish once, just once, that someone in this thread would have pronounced it "nucular" for old times sake. ;) ;D

Nucular power plants are a necessity in helping us reduce our dependency on oil.

Thank you Fox, that blessed me! :D
