Kanye - Is he genuine or is it all for publicity?

OK, lemme get it all out. I can't stand rap, and I always thought Kanye was a big blowhard. Being married to a Kardashian doesn't help.

But I started to develop a little respect for him when he came out to support Trump, mainly because it appeared that he was thinking with his own head and had the cajones to go against the grain. Then came the Blexit thing which he appeared to flip flop on.

Now he is saying he's a born again Christian and is making Christian music (OK, I'm being generous with the term music, but as long as the right intent is there).

Being a Christian myself, I want to think he's sincere and celebrate his salvation. But is he for real?

Thoughts?

Same here. I don't care who you are, I don't support stupidity but I'm open for people evolving into someone whom I can respect. Not that they're asking for my respect in the first place.

I am not convinced. I watched a couple of video interviews where he kept calling it an "awakening". I know of no christian that calls their salvation an "awakening". So far all I see is that it's less about the tranforming power of salvation and more about Kanye getting "woke".

I am not sure if it sincere.

There was some blowback because now he wants the wife to dress more modestly... ah... yeah.... errrrr.... the wifey who is famous/infamous for a sex tape that brought her into star status along with her selling of her sexuality and over the top lifestyle?

Divorce would seem to be on the horizon next.

I thought he had a mental breakdown... perhaps this is related to it?

... I googled it, and here is the news out there for his name:

No, this is not from the Babylon Bee. I guess it makes sense, I read somewhere he was hooked into the prosperity gospel.
Kanye West to take stage at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church Sunday

Kanye West is scheduled to take the stage at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church this Sunday, TMZ reports.

West will reportedly have a back-and-forth with Osteen during service that will last between 20 and 30 minutes focused on “how Kanye has overcome significant adversity in his life.”

A guy that played keyboards in a band I was in became a Christian. It was after he went up to northern Michigan and spent a week at a friend's cabin that he came back and said he had found Jesus. He went extremely overboard. He claimed rock and roll was the devil's music and he was quitting the band. I asked him to give an example of how rock and roll was the devil's music and he gave The J. Geils Band's My Angel is a Centerfold as his example. We were all like WTH? When asked to explain, he said the song was about the guy's guardian angel being a centerfold. We started laughing our tails off, which made him angry. I explained to him the song was about a girl the guy new in high school and many years passed when he was looking at a girly magazine and saw she was the centerfold. She wasn't literally an angel, but a girl he desired in high school and had fond memories of for years after. He told me I was wrong, that she was his guardian angel assigned by God.

He later became involved with this church that was in many opinions, to include mine to be a cult. That's a long story, but he got much worse. It took several years, but he came to a realization it was a cult and left. My point is, many new Christians can become overzealous. Kanye may be no exception to that.

People who get so crazy like that often do the Kingdom more harm than good.

Adding to CPTLO's post ... I guess we just need to pray for this to become as popular with celebrities as avocado toast or other Kardashian trends. Odder things have happened... How often have I heard that those chasing the next best, biggest, most wonderful are really trying to fill that void that a relationship with Jesus will fill?

Megachurch pastor comes to the defense of Kanye West: 'Shut up for a minute, OK?'

'It has people talking about Jesus'
“Just shut up for a minute, OK?" Laurie said of West's critics. "How about this: Pray for him. Pray that he gets grounded in his faith, pray that he's a seed sown on good ground that brings forth much fruit."

Laurie pointed out that West's own faith doesn't need criticism or analyzation so long as he continues to grow in Jesus Christ.

“I applaud any person that makes any movement toward God," Laurie said. “And I want to encourage them in that, not critique them about that. And I think it's fantastic because he's taking his considerable platform — and he has quite a platform, doesn't he? — to talk about faith."

"It has people talking about Jesus," he pointed out. "I'm happy for that conversation, people that wouldn't normally be talking about the Lord."

Last week, West told Apple Music's Beats 1 host Zane Lowe that he intends on taking the message of Jesus Christ's salvation everywhere he goes.

"Now that I'm in service to Christ, my job is to spread the Gospel, to let people know what Jesus has done for me," West insisted. "I've spread a lot of things. There was a time I was letting you know what high fashion had done for me, I was letting you know what the Hennessy had done for me, but now I'm letting you know what Jesus has done for me, and in that I'm no longer a slave, I'm a son now, a son of God. I'm free."

Actually I don't know. I do however try to follow this guys advise/warnings. He is right pretty much 100% of the time.

"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect" Matthew 24:24

I personally apply this to the motivational speaker Mr. Osteen also. JMO.
