This is from my home state of Illinois. The governor is supposed to sign a bill today that would abolish the death penalty.

*rant begins*
When criminals stop killing innocent people then, perhaps, they should entertain the idea of getting rid of the death penalty.
*rant over*

I agree with you! May I share your soap box? ::ditto

I think the Death penalty should only be allowed in states and counties that will use it. If that rat bas!@^* that escaped from the Fulton County courthouse and killed all of those folks cant get the chair in Fulton County, then why bother with the $1m prosecution and the $2 M defense the taxpayer paid for?

Illinois has only executed 12 people since 1976. Texas has executed 466 and Virginia has executed 108. I doubt that the Death Penalty is serving any useful purpose in illinois.

He's obviously never had a loved one who was victim of a violent crime. He also must have never been around the scores of crazy and violent people of this world who have, by their own hand, abused legal and illegal substances to the point that they don't act human, i.e. Charlie Sheen. Nor must he have ever encountered the evil in this world that fills so many people regardless of substance abuse.

Either that or he's just an idiot. I think I'd just plead ignorance.

There's not a person I work with who is opposed to the death penalty. If you were to meet most of our customers, you would fully understand and agree. They say the death penalty does not deter violent crime. I submit that it is NOT used enough to even tell.
