I wonder if those who are trying to stop Trump...

Will those who are trying so desperately to stop Trump work as hard to stop Hillary? This is really not a pro Trump thread, but rather a serious question.

I heard that moron, Neil Bortz say on the radio this morning that he will not vote for either Hillary or Trump and explained that it would be better for the nation the go to hell under Hillary than Trump. That way, the next conservative will look even better as a candidate in 2020. I honestly believe Bortz would rather have Obama in office for another term.

Bortz says Trump is rude and bombastic. Really? This coming from one of the most rude and bombastic and irritating voices on radio. I know he's not running for president, but it's the pot calling the kettle black.

This Trump thing is very similar to the "Palin Effect" in my opinion. I can tell you right now that Mrs. Colson despises Palin. She despised her in the 2008 election and still does to this day. If you ask her what policies or stance she disagrees with, she can't say. Just "I just don't like her." I believe it's the same with Trump. No matter if he aligned himself with every issue, some people would hate him regardless due to his personality.

Again, this is not a pro Trump thread, but a concern that some will vote "personality" over "substance". On the other hand, I'm not a bit ashamed to post a pro-Trump thread, but that's not what this is about.

I would just like to know where all of this hate was over the last 7.5 years with Obama. Where were all these voices then? Maybe if McCain and Romney would have criticized Obama a tenth of what they are criticizing Trump, this may not have been an issue.

Based on Hillary vs Trump polls and favorability ratings, some would argue stopping Trump is also stopping Hillary from getting elected. I don't like Trump's personality but that isn't the main reason I oppose him. I don't think he's a conservative and don't think he'll push conservative causes. I think he'll do whatever it takes for people to like him regardless if that means pushing liberal policies. I also think he would be dangerous as president. During an interview this morning on MSNBC he was asked who are some of his foreign policy advisors. He responded that (paraphrasing) "he talks to himself because he's pretty smart". That doesn't sound like someone who would be a good president.

He may very well not be a good president, but Hillary scares me far more and I just wish the republicans had stood up and done the right thing when they had the chance and the support of the voters. If this turns out to be a tragedy they only have themselves to thank for it.

If the primary goal is to prevent Hillary from winning then Kasich is the guy for the job. He beats her easiest according to polls. He's also more liberal than Cruz. I think Cruz is a real conservative who would definitely push conservative policies. He also beats Hillary in most polls.

Just as some people won't vote for Trump due to his personality, there are many conservatives that will vote for him primarily for his personality.

I see Boortz' point, but I'm not sure this country can survive much longer on it's current course. I suspect we're dangerously close to the point of no return now.

I do agree that some Trump supporters like him for his attitude and I frankly can understand that. Most regular guys like me don't communicate with others on a day to day basis like we are reading an eloquent speech. At the same time, I have always been a Cruz fan for his stand against the establishment. It's a shame that both have gone too far that they can not forge an alliance.

Edited to add: Kasich lost me when he called a cop an idiot for doing his job and was professional about it. Speaking of personality...he totally and personally pissed me off!

Kasich is just a continuation of the failed establishment.

The GOP leadership has abandoned their voters,
they deserve to face the consequences of failure.

Exactly. He's a mealy mouthed, mamby pamby, moderate that the GOP has run three times previously under the names of Dole, McCain and Romney. How did that work out? Talk about a candidate that will do or say anything to get people to like him, he's the perfect example and I say he would lose just like the last three.
People still believe compromise means getting along and getting things done. Compromise to the Left is doing everything they want. Anything short of that they call Obstructionism.

I get that GOP leadership has failed us. I also get that having someone forceful to shake things up may be a good thing. I just wish that someone was conservative and had a set of core beliefs other than "do/say whatever will make people like me".

If that's the case, it ain't working is it? There are more horns blowing against Trump than anyone else right now. (pun intended) :p

Trump polls very well with blue collar males, but polls very poorly with women, college educated men and women, those who identify themselves as professionals, blacks, Asians, and Hispanics. I'm sorry folks, but he needs a decent percentage of votes from those groups he polls poorly with; especially college educated and professionals to win the general election.

That's what I've been trying to tell people for months!

Nothing to be sorry about. The establishment will do everything they can to take the victory from him by hook or crook. Then we'll see how their sophisticated, college educated moderate will do against Hillary. It makes me wonder where these "groups" have been and why they haven't turned out in droves for the other candidates. Maybe they were just to sophisticated to get out in the primaries and vote. :dunno: On the other hand, maybe they are not as smart as they claim to be.

I take Trump over anyone I have seen. I didn't feel this way in the beginning and his attitude annoys me at times, but he owes no favors or money to anyone like all other candidates. I do believe he is for the people and IF he gets elected (which Hillary has lots of power and $$$$ behind her because of those trying to OUT Trump and keep the government/establishment in control), then I pray he chooses the right persons/committees/leaders, etc. to help make America great again. NO President can do it on his own. We just need to pray hard for our country at this time and become the UNITED States again.

It's just hard for me to wrap my mind around the notion that some would rather see Hillary in office just to demonstrate how much they hate Trump. I know few people see this forum, so I don't see it having an effect. However, people do watch the national media and this ongoing plot to destroy Trump is going to backfire on them, just as the Romney diatribe did. We wouldn't even be having this discussion if Romney had gone after Obama like he did Trump. I wonder where and when he found his orbs? Maybe he's just borrowing them.

That's not entirely true.

I just posted another article that shows Trump is not self-funding as he has claimed.

Also, he was loaned 160 million for Trump Tower by none other than George Soros. That's a bit concerning!

As I have said before, I will vote for Trump if he gets the nomination. I'm not a big fan, but he has to be better than Hillary.

My take: Trump has the BEST chance at getting the crossover vote from lower and lower middle classes - those who like to jump on a bandwagon and simply vote for someone because he's already famous. The fact that he is financially successful is going to sway some voters into to thinking that if they vote for him, they will also be successful.

When you look at Trump among Republicans, I simply say that we need to get a grip or the party will implode. Trump is winning the primaries and he is getting folks out to vote, and, if he can sustain that momentum, we have a better chance of keeping Hillary out of the White House. However, if he is the nominee, look for most of Hollywood to become anti-Trump (except for those that won The Apprentice) - they will start pushing Hillary bigtime.

End result: If Trump s the Republican nominee, suck it up and vote for him.

I sure hope people suck it up if he's nominated, but there are still some too proud and have the, "I'll just sit at home. That'll teach them" attitude.

Some questions:

If Trump doesn't get 1237 delegates and he loses at the convention to Cruz, would you vote for Cruz in the general election?

If Trump doesn't get 1237 delegates and he loses at the convention to Kasich, would you vote for Kasich in the general election?

If Trump doesn't get 1237 delegates and he loses at the convention to Rubio, would you vote for Rubio in the general election?

If Trump doesn't get 1237 delegates and he loses at the convention to Romney, would you vote for Romney in the general election?

If Trump doesn't get 1237 delegates and he loses at the convention to Kasich, would you vote for Kasich in the general election? Against the democrat, I would hold my nose and vote for the cop hater...and then send him a letter telling him off!

If Trump doesn't get 1237 delegates and he loses at the convention to Rubio, would you vote for Rubio in the general election? He would have to be selected, not nominated, but of course.

If Trump doesn't get 1237 delegates and he loses at the convention to Romney, would you vote for Romney in the general election? If they do this, I'll be surprised if he gets one republican vote. But if it's against the democrat, probably yes and then I would support a third party being created.

And now, will you vote for Trump if he is nominated?
