I need opinions on Optical places

Ok so who has used Sam's club in Hiram (I know GD has and he likes them) or America's best?

I have got to go get my eyes checked..I have put it off way way way way way to long (did I mention it's been awhile?)

Anywho..I thought about going to America's best but I really just don't wanna drive to Dville if I don't have to when Sam's is in my backyard so to speak but I wonder just how expensive they are for exams and glasses? Would America's best be worth my drive to Dville?

my mom likes Sam's too

I use Dr. Woods on Business 6 and really really like him

Hubby has been going to the eye place in Hiram Wally World for years. (You can get in and out without too much of the WalMart experience.)

I've used Sam's a couple of years ago and liked them. I used Target in December (insurance changed so I had to change) - I really liked them too.

Didn't think about Target, forgot they even had an optical place in there. I gotta go where it's the cheapest so that's a huge factor

Where is there an America's Best in Douglasville? I know husband uses Vision Works in the mall and gets his exam, glasses, and prescription sunglasses for $100. He hasn't ever had an issues. (and has never said whether he likes them or not..LOL)

Target is $59 for just the exam
Vision Works is $45 for just the exam.

I had those two right on an email from B, so I could look right at it. LOL

hmmm I think I might check out vision works..going to look now =)

Sam's used to have a young lady doctor from New York that was just wonderful. Unfortunately, she moved back there. But the last time I was there there was another lady doctor who also did well.

The place in Hiram by Firehouse was terrible when they were Pearl. Wifey and I were both very displeased with them. They have changed ownership now, so maybe better...just don't know.

I have used both Vision Works and America's Best. America's Best was less expensive because you get the exam free if you get the glasses there. They are located across the street from the mall, in the Target shopping center.

I have heard really good things about both Sam's and the Walmart in Hiram.

My new insurance has very few places around here that I can go to...Walmart is one of them. I thought that since the Walmart on Dallas Hwy was nicer, the vision center would be too. I was wrong. I don't recommend going to that Walmart on Dallas Hwy. They totally screwed up my glasses. I later found out that the vision center in the Hiram Walmart is not run by Walmart, but the one on Dallas Hwy is....I guess that is the difference!

How much would the exam, and two pairs of glasses (one sun) be at Americas Best? Husband will switch if cheaper. :))

I had to have an eye exam before this deployment. I went to Wally World on 120. It wasn't expensive at all and I was pleased. I was in and out.

That's funny you say that...I know a guy who works at the Dallas Hwy location and he told me to never go to the one in Hiram...hmmm but I have friends who go there and love it to so I think I might call them and see how much an exam and glasses would be. I don't have vision insurance so I gotta go somewhere not very expensive. I just gotta find out the differences of prices cause I can go to the Americas Best up near town center also since I work up that way at 2nd job but it's finding the time to go. If I go here in Hiram I can go on my lunch hour..uggh decisions!

I honestly can't remember the cost, but it was quite a bit cheaper. Now, I don't know his Rx, but with mine I have to add the poly carb lenses and Vision Works added so much to do that that I was spening around $300 for the exam and two pairs of glasses...and I'm not even talking about sunglasses.

I will call. His are straight forward, nothing special, so I will check. No reason to spend more than we have to! He needs more glasses so I am actually glad this thread came up! I knew about your Walmart incident, so I didn't even consider them. LOL

Years ago, I used both Sam's & Hiram Walmart. For awhile, I drove to the Walmart on Thornton Rd, because the doctor there was really good. Since I had my surgery 6 years ago, I've just gone back to Dr. Woodham's for check-ups. (And I just realized I'm overdue.)

I have used Vision Works in the past, but it's been almost 20 years ago.

Don't forget....find the cheapest exam and order your glasses from Zenni Optical (the place Clark Howard recommends.) I think you can get specs for $9 & up!

Hey that is an idea..I called Wallyworld and they were pretty expensive. So I went ahead and made an appointment at Vision works tomorrow..if they try to tack on all kinds of stuff, I'll just get my prescription and order them from this place you suggest. I have heard great things about them.

Been using the same for fourteen years, as long as
you do not buy the cheapo frames they are quality.
