Here are the 10 states where the middle class pays the most in taxes — and the 9 states where they pay no state income tax at all

Kinda distracting to contrast how the state voted in the last presidential election to state taxes, to really see how parties are responsible, I'd like to see state taxes vs long each party controlled the state government.
 
What I found kind of interesting were the states that had no state income tax but the residents still had high taxes. It shows how you can get screwed with obscure hidden taxes that you don't notice you are paying. Maybe the better thing is an upfront state income tax and relative transparency on other taxes.
