I've always wanted to learn how to fly. I checked a flight school out at the airport in Kennesaw and all together it would cost just under $11,000. That also includes the price of plane rental. Ouch! I looked into it while I lived in Michigan and it was much less expensive then as they didn't charge you rent for the use of the plane while you flew with the instructor and did your solo time. The minimum flight time with an instructor is 20 hours and a minimum 10 hours of solo time to get your license. That's an awful lot of money.

My dad loved to fly. Both him and his brother had their pilot licenses. They learned up north and kept their plane at a small field near the house.
I never thought of the cost, but I guess that it would be expensive.

I always LOVED to fly. In 1976 my Dad bought blocks of lesson time for me in Ohio. I did my solo flight at 15 years old, much to the protest of my mother. We had a small local newspaper that put in a picture and story about me getting my pilots license before I was old enough to get a drivers license. ;D The cost then was $20 per hour for the plane and $20 per hour for instructor time. I still have my log book in the man cave.

It was a blast, but it became too expenseive by the time I moved here and wanted to start back. I flew once out of Kennesaw and never did again. All I wanted to to was fly an Air Force jet, but was told by the recruiter that I had to have a college degree before being considered for officer flight training school. :'(

As a senior, I had early dismissal from school. I'd drive straight from school to the airport, pay my $20 and fly the practice area. Actually, an hour in the air is a pretty long time in a Cesna 150. Have fun...beware the full power stalls. It's a roller coaster ride.
