Finally Some Good House News!

I mentioned LONG ago that I was trying to purchase a house because my landlord was going to tear town the one I'm renting right now. Thanks to the ridiculous amount of oil activity around here, housing will be a bit limited and expensive soon. (Right now it's just overpriced.)

So I found a nice small house close to school. The loan went just fine, I rounded up a good downpayment after consolidating my savings.

The issue has been the appraisal. Thanks to the heavy oil activity, the appraisers are busy in Dickinson, so they don't care about my little town off near the edge of the Earth. We finally got the appraiser to come down about 2 months ago. Unfortunately, he made some mistakes. The appraisal has been tossed and he is no longer allowed to have anything to do with it.

I began to get frustrated with the time this has taken and started being more and more of a pest to the bank.

Today, during my pestering, the banker decided to tell me that the appraisal company picked up the appraisal on November 11 with a guarantee of a 5 week turn around. So, good news! I may be able to close on the house before the year is up.

Great news, Waski! I am excited for you, nothing feels quite like owning your own home.

Having done the home buying thing a couple of times, I can attest that it's a pain in the posterior. But it will be worth it. Owning your own home is an important part of the American Dream.

Keep us posted.

Oh and...we do expect pictures. ;)

I'm starting to wonder about that, GD. Good luck, Waski.
