We went to our Shrine Club meeting last night. We got in a conversation about family history. I might have to start doing some tracking. I know of five ancestors who were in the Confederate Army, documented by the Sons of Confederate Veterans. My mother is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, so there is more documention there. They are supposed to be very extensive.
At the end of the meeting, one of the ladies came up and said she had been listening to the conversation. My mother is from Emanuel County. The family cemetery, named Longcreek, is there. She said she had family buried there. She mentioned the Cannady family, which were her cousins. There are Cannadys that were my cousins. I'm sure it is the same family. Emanuel was small and rural then, it is pretty much the same now. She said they had family reunions in the Summertown Schoolhouse, years ago. So did we. It may be the same reunions. I don't remember her, and she didn't remember me. I'm going to find out.
