Election Predictions

I was talking on the phone with my father who is 83 earlier this evening. He predicts to secure the nomination if he doesn't have the 1,237 delegates to get it on the first vote at convention; he will offer Cruz the V-P slot and Christie the AG position. My dad believes he's already promised Carson to be Surgeon General in exchange for his endorsement.

My father also predicts that if Sanders loses to Hillary, he will run as an independent.

I think he'd pick Kasich instead of Cruz. It would be hard to for Cruz as VP with all the 'lying Ted' comments. And Kasich brings Ohio which would help. Maybe he would promise to nominate Cruz to SCOTUS. The senate would love to get rid of him.

I still don't think Hillary or Bernie will be the democrat nominee. I think Hillary gets indicted and has to drop out. The dems would never let Bernie have the nomination so they would bring in Biden or someone else.

He'd be foolish to take Kasich as his VP. He'd be better of selecting Cruz and have Kasich's endorsement in Ohio.

If you look at the VP choices from the past few elections, the VP choice has never been one of the top 3 - it has either been someone who dropped out early or someone from way out in left field. I wouldn't be surprised if Carson is offered the VP job, he has been pretty non-controversial. Kasich would have been a good choice (just to secure Ohio), but he's been in the contest too long, so unless he decides he wants VP, he's out of it. Jindal might be an option too. Rubio may very well end up as our next Secretary of State or some position like that - we haven't heard the last of him. Cruz, in my opinion, will likely not get a high level position in Trump's organization/administration - he will stay out of it with the thought of prepping for the 2020. Just my thoughts....

Yall are forgetting that Cruz is not far behind Trump. Add in Rubio's support and he has more delegates then Trump.

This election is far from over.

IF Trump actually had a clue, (and that's a BIG "IF") he'd be on his knees begging Condi Rice to be VP.

Carson would be better, IMO, as head of HHS. A cabinet level post instead of a figurehead slot. I agree that Christie should be AG...but Cruz would be killer in that spot, too. I'm guessing that Sarah Palin will be Sec of Energy (drill, baby, drill!!)

I don't think she would accept. She's way too classy for that.

Agreed. I can't imagine her being his VP. Come to think of it I'm not sure who would be a good VP candidate to handle all the "do you agree with the latest crazy thing Trump said" questions.

Trump might just have a problem finding who he needs for VP. If someone joins him and he loses, their political career is over.

BTW, Sanders cannot run as an independent this late in the game, it would be impossible to get on more than maybe 30 state ballots. He will probably do what Ron Paul wanted to do, and that is to use his position to pull the platform in his direction at the convention.

Christie! Ewww. I hope he gets nothing.

Any vote for Bernie is a vote that Killary doesn't get. As long as those 30 states are ones she has a chance to win, I say "Go, Bernie!"

I would not make any predictions. 7 months is an eternity in politics.

Literally anything could happen between now and then, especially on this crazy go round.

:dancechicken:

Not sure I believe it, but I saw an article on Facebook this morning that claimed Cruz is in negotiations with Trump to be his VP pic.

That brings up a question....I wonder if Trump would actually want to be president for possibly 8 years.
