My husband and I were talking about this the other night. He was saying that with most of the "on the fence" states being no further than the central time zone, we will probably know by 10pm. :dunno

The winner has already been projected - Obama. Just watch ABC - they will tell you.

By law, the news isn't allowed to make any projections or declarations of a winner until the last polls have closed because it could influence voters.

The networks will be hesitant to call anything for Romney.

(I have purchased several bottles of nice champagne,
and will be setting off fireworks should Romney win.)

I plan to stay up late... 8) 8) 8)

Which would make it...midnight allowing for Hawaii polls to close?

I believe so.

We will have a good indication before midnight but of course that doesn't take into account all the legal maneuvers which will go on for several days or weeks.

That will depend on just how close it is. I think we'll see a clear win.

Not predicting. :girlsaysno I didn't even think this nobody from nowhere would even get the nomination. :BH

I hope there is no re-count. I am loathe to live through another one of those!

I hate it when the news gives their projections with a percentage less that 100% of the precincts counted.
I work the Elections (come see me at Moses and election day if that is your precinct and early voting at the Cross Roads Library). Polls close at 7PM. I'm sure we will have a line and probably the last voter will be in around 9PM. You have to be in line by 7 to get to vote on election day!!!! So our precinct alone will not be counted until probably 11PM. So any projection earlier than midnight is too early to count on IMHO.

Swerving off topic for a moment ... where is the Cross Roads library?

Here is a very probable scenerio. Both candidates could end up tying in the electoral college and then it will head to the House of Representatives to have a winner declared. Whoa boy! Talk about controversy.

Duh...at the Crossroads, you dip. And stop with the off-topic! I never ever go off-topic!!! :D

Crossroads Library is on Harmony Grove Church Road, which runs off 61 north about what...five miles north of town? A fer piece for you. But I love it...way close for me.

EVEN WORSE - House would probably elect Romney. Senate would name the VP, which would probably be Biden. YIKES!!!

I personally think it won't be close enough for them to even cause trouble in legal circles. I'm hearing movement to Romney BIG in swing states, and I also heard that in Penn., where he's just 4 points behind Obama, that the rural counties are landslide for Romney.

LOL. It would be Kennedy/LBJ all over again, Romney would keep Uncle Joe busy doing stupid crap just to keep him out of the public eye.

The media will call it as the states report in and declare (unofficially of course) their electoral votes. So it will start early and keep going until all states have reported, or a majority electoral is reached.
