I never really cared for this guy and I can see why Trump started questioning his expertise as well. Fauci has flipped flopped on so many things concerning this virus since the pandemic occurred. He was the one who heavily recommended Trump to shut the nation down, claiming that doing so would significantly slow the virus. We can't forget the 14 days to slowing the spread, "mask, social distance, and wash your hands frequently." Neither worked the way he said it would. Recently he had said that 70% of the country would have to receive the Covid vaccine in order for herd immunity to develop in the country. Now he's saying it will take 90% to be immunized.

I don't think Fauci knows what he's talking about or perhaps he's intentionally misinforming us. He did see to it that the lab in Wuhan received a few million dollars from his department for research. Research of what; Covid-19?
 
At the pace they are immunizing, it is going to take forever.

Add to that, they are talking about prioritized front line workers like grocery clerks, and I heard hotel workers for instance, instead of the over 65 year olds and pre-existing conditions! That is so WRONG WRONG WRONG...

I think the progressives want to keep us afraid to socialize because we worry we will kill grandma.

If grandma and people with pre-existing conditions are immunized, kids can go back to school, because if they get it, it won't matter because we won't have to worry they will kill grandma if they give it to her...

If grandma and those with pre existing conditions have the vaccine, we don't have to worry anymore, and we can't be beat over the head that we are heartless if we don't think about those frail people with pre-existing conditions, that we must continue to wear our mask, stay in a lock down, don't go to restaurants, gyms or hair salons. This whole thing is a way to control us!!!!!

I see them saying we can't go out yet until 90 % have it, and they will roll it out in a way that continues to control us by maintaining the fear level.

Once my mom and elder relatives get the shot, I really don't care if I get it. All the employees who have gotten it, it has been mild. It is the elderly that do not do well.
 
The 70% number was based upon the rate of spread. There are 3 new variants, 1 in Britain and 2 in South Africa, that spread much easier than any of the other known strains (I believe 7 total?). Perhaps this is the reasoning behind his statement, but I have not seen that study. He lost credibility with me when he said that masks don't work for the public in order to preserve that PPP for medical professionals. Clearly he is motivated by public policy and not scientific communication. I guess that at the end of the day that's his actual current job.
 
Fauci now says his previous herd immunity numbers were "guesstimates." He's now settling on 75-80% need to be vaccinated in order to achieve herd immunity. We kept hearing Biden claim we need to "follow the science, the experts" on the pandemic and said Trump failed to listen to Fauci. Who wants to implement ideas from a guy who is always guessing?
