Do any of you have connections at local grocery stores?

Mrs. Jack Russell

Stunt Driver
I am in charge of getting food for meals and snacks for our church's Vacation Bible School. I will be buying in bulk. Before I bought anything, I thought I would ask if any of you know of someone I could talk to in order to get some kind of discount. I would prefer NE Paulding area, but I will travel for a deal.

Items I will be needing:
3 Pork Butts
20 lbs of hamburger meat
200 hotdogs and buns
80 hamburger buns
watermellons
100 pieces of fried chicken.
many other items

Mods, if this forum is not okay, you can move it for me.

Thanks

Our church has a Sams card and I have a Costco card. I'm probably going to get the items at Costco. I just wanted to know if someone knew someone at a local Kroger/Publix/Ingles before I headed to Costco in a few days.

Thanks.

I used to have a contact in the business but not anymore. Sorry. I bet you can do as well or better at one of the warehouse clubs though.

See if your church has a tax free shopping card from one of the grocery stores or from Wal-Mart - if you can get a donation, at least you can save some money in sales tax.

Contrary to popular opinion, churches are not exempt from sales tax in Georgia.

Please don't tell Wal-Mart that - our church has a card to make tax free purchases and has had it for years... We use it consistently for the food ministry at church. :dunno

I'm not sure, but an approved food ministry might qualify for tax exempt status.

It might, but we got the card before we had the food ministry. I don't know how or why they gave us one, I just know that we have one (and we truly appreciate it)...

Call Kroger. I've heard of them offering discounts. I think you can also call ahead with your list and have it ready for you.

Check with Brown's Wholesale Foods on Bus. 6. They have some good bulk deals!

How is this place? I've driven past it hundreds of times, but I've never stopped in.

Just did some checking online...

Church's do have to pay taxes on any purchases for it's own use. However, a qualified food bank is exempt.

Charlie or his angel could probably tell us more.

As I said, I have no idea how or why our church got one initially, but it has certainly come in handy!

my only connection is that they take most of my money!

I wish ya luck on your search

If you like West Metro's chicken, you'll like Brown's ... according to them, it is where West metro gets their chicken. ;)

I'll have to stop in some time just to try it out and check out their prices.

I have no grocery connections, so I'm no help there. But WHAT THE HECK?!?!?!? When I was a kid, all we had at VBS was cheapie cookies (the vanilla/chocolate wafer kind with white stuffing in the middle) and Kool-Aid. GAH!!! And we wonder what's wrong with kids these days!!!
