DMV Morons

Serenity, through modern chemistry
I went to the court house to get our car tags today, and stopped next door to pay our property taxes all in one stop, but things went a little sideways. A couple of years ago I went through the trouble of digging out a copy of my DD-214 form and got a Veterans tag and was told you can only have one. Last year they told me you can have one for each of your vehicles,, so this year I went for another Veterans tag, and a Handicapped tag for my wife's car to do away with the mirror placard which soon expires. The nice lady told me we could get the tag, but keep the placard to use in other cars,, she even renewed the old one and had it laminated. Then we went into the Veteran tag and she needed proof. Well this last spring I got out the ole DD-214 and went to the DMV and had my driver's licence endorsed with a Veteran seal, so I proudly whipped out my licence and showed her the endorsement. She says "Sorry, but we need the DD-214". So I say are you sure, it's the same DMV. So she goes and asks the boss who says nope they need a copy with each request. I was starting to hypoglycemic and didn't feel like arguing, so I told her I would come back tomorrow. I could tell she felt bad about it, and I didn't want her to suffer any more wrath, so I wrote my check and went to sit down and wait for the placard.
It seems so crazy that the DMV has the Drivers Licence program, but doesn't recognize it themselves. Secondly, how did they think I got the first Veterans tag if I didn't have a DD-214 in the first place. Sometimes you need to have real thick skin to deal with the government,,, the rest of the time you need a bottle of Jack Daniels!!

I have the Bronze Star Medal plate. The nicest thing about them is I never have to pay a fee to renew them. I just go to the tag office, and they give me a new sticker. Thank you, Georgia.

Well it's been a couple of weeks, and I finally received my Veterans tag in the mail. Actually it arrived on 11/02, but I, and my wife were recovering from Covid, and my wife coughed so hard she wound up with compression fractures of 4 vertebrae, so over the weekend I finally got around to opening the new tag. Along with the tag was the proof of ownership with the new decal,,, a Red Oct tag for 2023,,, already expired for the last 10 days !! So I had a 2 hour window where I didn't have to take anyone to the hospital or doctor, and I zipped up to the tag office where I finally explain just what the problem was, then she got the next lady over involved and they decided that it must have been that I ordered the tag 9 days before my birthday, and now I would have to renew it for another $25. So I asked "how long before your birthday can you renew your tags?", and she says "59 days",,, so I say "Okay, I've cleared that hurdle, now kindly print me a 2024 decal". She says "You will have to renew the tag first", to which I reply, "there is no renewal, it's a brand new tag!". I guess she decided that she wasn't going to get any more money from me because she took it all back to her supervisor. 5 minutes later she came back with the 2024 decal and made it sound like they printed one for me as a favor. I thanked her, grabbed my stuff and left before they changed their minds.

The DMV,,, ya gotta just love them!!!

I don't pay anything to renew mine. I go to the tag office, they give me the decal and the new registration.
