Pretty sure my kids have eaten it up. They fully believe this crap. They def did not learn it from me.
This is part of the problem, the propaganda being fed to young people these days. A lot of it is coming from social media. Colleges are pushing it as well. And it's not happening by accident.

The Govt Strikes Back:

Florida’s Republican-led House voted Thursday to approve a bill eliminating the Walt Disney Company’s special tax district which allows it to self-govern its land, sending the measure to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ desk to be signed into law.

The bill passed by a 70-38 vote and is expected to be signed by the Republican governor, who earlier this week announced lawmakers would consider the termination of special districts in the state – including the Reedy Creek Improvement District, on which Disney World sits.

If signed, the legislation would not take effect until June 2023 and would affect six districts in Florida.

Reedy Creek was created in 1967 to help persuade Disney to locate its East Coast theme park in the Sunshine State.

The agreement has given Disney wide-ranging autonomy over environmental protections and public services, as well as control over local police and fire departments on the land where the Florida theme park sits. Disney has also been responsible for operating and maintaining public roads and bridges.

Florida’s Republican-led Senate passed the bill 23-16 on Wednesday.

The legislation is the latest hit at Disney in the ongoing dispute between the company and DeSantis over a recently enacted bill banning instruction related to gender identity or sexual orientation for kids in kindergarten through the third grade – commonly referred to as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

Supporters of the legislation argue the controversial bill shields young students in the state from inappropriately sexual subject matter in the classroom. However, critics — including Disney — say it is discriminatory to the LGBTQ community.

“Florida’s HB 1557, also known as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill, should never have passed and should never have been signed into law,” Disney said in a March statement.

“Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that.”

DeSantis hit back at the company, accusing it of trying to impose “woke ideology.”

“Disney has alienated a lot of people now,” DeSantis said earlier this month. “And so the political influence they’re used to wielding, I think has dissipated. And so the question is, why would you want to have special privileges in the law at all? And I don’t think that we should.”

Representatives of the Walt Disney Company did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

Is this actually a good idea? I'll admit that I don't know much about how the special provisions work, but wouldn't this now mean other city/county/state police, fire, rescue, etc. would have to take over the Disney area?

The woke crowd has finally gone too far, they are messing with people's children. And those people are fighting back, as they should.

Me thinks this will weigh heavily in the next election.
This is true, but the state of Florida is about to get a hefty bill for all of the services Disney was/is doing in the form of safety and road and bridge maintenance,,, well worth the cost!

Is this the "Don't piss off the party that governs the state that gave you lots of giveaways?" Lesson?

I wonder if the state/county will hire the existing Disney Police Force?

Well, according to these people, Disney should close Disney world and move it immediately. Morons.

A number of liberal journalists suggested this week that Disney simply move its multi-billion dollar operation from Florida in response to the state taking action to end the company's special self-governing status.

The Florida state legislature passed a bill this week dissolving Disney's more than 50-year-old self-governing status after the company publicly feuded with Republicans over a parental rights bill that was signed into law last month. Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed it on Friday.

The move by Florida Republicans has attracted widespread criticism from the left as a form of political retribution.

"A simple solution to the [Gov. Ron DeSantis'] attack on business, specifically [Disney]. The company should close the current [Walt Disney World] in Florida, tear it down, and build a new and better facility in a nearby state NOT run by religious zealot buffoons," tweeted former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann.

"Disney could move out of Florida, bring their tens of thousands of jobs along with them, and crash and burn Ron DeSantis’ re-election bid," wrote left-wing journalist Brian Tyler Cohen in a now-deleted tweet.

A Daily Beast editor claimed in another tweet that Florida's economy would "collapse" if Disney left the state, adding it was "a very strange game" Florida was playing.

NBC reporter Ben Collins agreed, tweeting in response, "From the folks who brought you the expression ‘play stupid games, win stupid prizes,’ we bring you the stupidest game of them all."

Wonder if these people have any idea how much ot would cost to rebuild a complex the size of Disney World?

Since when do leftists NOT want to raise taxes on a large wealthy corporation? What happened to paying their fair share?
And, it will now be treated just like any other business. That should make the left happy, equality of treatment, along with tax the rich.
