DeSantis 2024.....now 2028?

As it should be.

Trump has been saying it's time to heal the party and pull together; I hope he sticks to that and unifies voters.

Most of these verbal assaults were just campaign BS all along, which is why I didn't get too excited over it.

There's even rumor that Trump and Christie are talking. Now, wouldn't it be something if he endorsed Trump again? OK, I'm not holding my breath on that one. Trump has softened his tone on Haley as well.

First, let me say that DeSantis dropping out hasn't changed my opinion of Trump or DeSantis at all. I still believe Trump is basically a carnival barker who will likely lose the general election. I also still think DeSantis would be a far superior POTUS.

With that said, after thinking more about the (probably unlikely) possibility of DeSantis as Trump's VP, I can see the following positives:

1. Having DeSantis on the ticket would bring in some anti-Trump votes that would otherwise stay at home or vote third party.
2. It would set up DeSantis for 2028 even if they lose the general election.
3. If DeSantis served as basically the hands-on guy who focused mainly on working with Congress and pushing/pulling the levers of govt, that may result in actually getting lasting change enacted.
4. Even before the general election, if Trump has to drop out for any reason, that immediately propels DeSantis as the Republican candidate.
5. If the Democrats stick with Biden/Harris (unlikely), think how fun the debate between DeSantis and Harris would be.

Also, despite DeSantis stating unequivocally that he wouldn't be Trump's VP, he could spin it using points #2 and #3 above.

Just some thoughts....maybe my attempt at coping. :( :D
I would agree with all of your above. I still have doubts that Trump will actually be eligible or able to be on the General ballot. You can read between the lines yourself, I’m not typing it.

If DeSantis were Trump's VP running mate, I would strongly consider voting for the ticket. It wouldn't be a vote for Trump. It would be a vote for DeSantis.

Most of the money spent in attack ads during the primary was spent against DeSantis. Should the others not have done that?
I don't care what they do. My only point was that it was clearly not effective. Being that his campaign didn't resonate with the voters, it might have been a poor use of the funds.

No matter what anyone thinks about Trump, he's already had more attacks on him than everyone else combined. For the DeSantis people to think they could do any further damage was likely an unwise investment.

Whether or not Ron himself was involved in this, I don't know. I chalk it off to more of the mistakes made by a campaign that was rushed into the game.

Trump's PAC was spending money attacking DeSantis a month BEFORE he announced. The NY Post reported last November the Trump campaign had spent $23 million in ads against DeSantis compared to spending $6 million against Biden.

Well it makes sense to spend against who he expected to be his competition for the Republican nomination. I expect that to shift to anti-Biden stuff once the nomination is in hand.

Agreed....it's just odd to me that some candidates or PACs are worthy of criticism for spending money on attack ads but other candidates get a pass for doing the same at much higher levels.

I haven't been able to read the article yet, but first response is: Doesn't this ignore her 1st Amendment rights?
I listened to her speech and she was not in the least a US citizen, or at all concerned with America.

She was speaking as a US Congressmen saying "We Somalians must have the confidence in ourselves that we call the shots in the US.” What an effen slap in the face to America.

And yes it helps get her elected by all the Somalians in her district because they too hate the USA, our Constitution. and people who believe we should stay a Constitutional Republic.
