How is it a double standard? Trump made promises in 2016 and didn't accomplish them while he was POTUS for 4 years. DeSantis is making promises now but he hasn't been POTUS yet. If DeSantis becomes POTUS, doesn't accomplish the things he is promising now, and I or Boss make excuses for him after his time as POTUS, THEN you can call us out for having a double standard. Doing it now is simply odd.

Because both candidates did the same thing, made promises they likely can't keep. In fact, some of DeSantis' promises, such as killing off government agencies, are even more unlikely than what Trump promised.
DeSantis is smart, he knows his chances of getting this done is slim. To even have a prayer of getting this through, he would need a strong majority in both houses that would support his agenda. Possible, but unlikely.

Who has the double standard? Trump was in the WH and made no attempt to fulfill that promise. DeSantis isn't in the WH. I'd be willing to bet you DeSantis would make the attempt to replace Obamacare with something else, which would be a lot more than what Trump did.

The bolded part is completely false. We know Trump made promises and didn't keep them. DeSantis hasn't been POTUS yet to even try to do the things he is promising so how is it that they did the same thing?

You are forgetting something. DeSantis didn't say he would eliminate them if elected. He said he would seek to eliminate them. He knows he can't just say they are gone and they're gone. He knows he has to go through Congress.

Even if DeSantis is on video stating he will eliminate those agencies (and it is likely that he probably did say that at some point), calling our opinions on it a double standard before DeSantis even has an attempt to do anything is simply odd.

Which is extremely unlikely, and the same reason Trump couldn't get certain things done. But you'll probably give DeSantis a pass when he fails.

No, it's that you can't see the difference between intentionally lying and failing. The odds are very high that DeSantis would also fail at his promises. Using the standard you've set for Trump, Ron is lying.

Luckily for you guys, I seriously doubt we'll get the chance to say I told you so. At least not this time around.

GD has stated on several occasions he is undecided about who he will vote for in the primary. In my opinion, he made his mind up quite some time ago he will vote for Trump.
 
Also, we have 4 years to look back and see how Trump would attempt (or not) to accomplish some of his promises. He was incapable of getting many things done.

Given that GD assumes that nobody will able to get these things done, that also means Trump won't be able to get them done in a second term either.

Anyone with an IQ over 50 has to agree that between Trump and DeSantis, DeSantis has a much better chance of getting lasting change enacted. He's smarter, more determined, more methodical, and knows much better how to work the levers of govt.
