Dad Gum Tax Dude

For several years I had been going to the same tax guy in Smyrna. He was a big help in identifying deductions that I would have probably missed. It was difficult to get an appointment with him unless you made it the day you were there....or a year in advance.

Two years ago I wasn't able to get an appointment because his crabby old mother (officer manager) didn't call me back. I Turbo Taxed it for two years, but I know I'm missing some deductions and shorting myself on what we DESERVE.

I went by his office last week and ws told they accept "walk in's" from 10 to 4. I got all my junk together and went there this morning. At least 25 people were waiting outside. I thought it was just a long wait, but there was a note on the door, saying he was sick and would return tomorrow. The young man at the front of the line said the note had been there since Monday.

I just got in my truck and drove the 25 miles back home. So I missed my work out, wasted gas, flushed my morning down the toilet, didn't get my taxes done and have 90 minutes before I have to leave for work again. :Stick :Stick :Stick

This is INSANE! The government knows what a pain in the butt this is. They know it's not easy for the average American to know all the ins and outs of the tax system enough to get back THEIR OWN MONEY! They want it to be as difficult as possible. Just think how much of YOUR money they keep that YOU missed by not knowing the legitimate deductions that are available to you.

Check out Tom Bowman in Powder Springs. He does an outstanding job. We've been using him for the last 9 years.

Thanks for the info. I have an appointment with him on Monday! :DN

I need to give him a Dallas Hwy card so he can join up! :DN

I don't even go in for an appointment. He sends me a "planner" in January. I collect all my receipts, etc. Fill in the planner. Fax, email, mail or hand-deliver my package. Fax my efile signature when the return is ready and done! They efile.

That's a nice arrangment. I Like It! I'm holding my breath until tomorrow afternoon to see how it turns out. We work the first 4+ months for the idiotic federal government. I'll be danged if I'm sending them MORE money!

Okay, I met with Tom this morning and really like the guy. Turns out we have a lot in common. I still don't know how this year's taxes will turn out 'cause I had to leave all the paperwork with him. We'll see....::prayingsmilieinsertedhere::

I invited him to The Hwy and gave him a Pioneers Quartet CD. I don't know about that move, he may jack my return up if he listens to that!

Tom is a great guy. I don't know if he still does, but he used to travel to compete in weight lifting. He's even competed in Europe. He started in weight lifting competition while in high school. Did you tell him I referred you?

I did tell him, but he said he'd do my taxes anyway. :p He is in very good shape and knew a few of the folks I've worked out with over the years, Big Joe Majors being on of them. I could only hope I could be in that good of shape at his age. As it turns out, he's also a Southern Gospel Music fan ;D

The only thing I have been used to is going over the return while in the office. I don't mind leaving the paperwork, but I feel a little less "in control". My other guy had me sit with him and he would ask questions about things I hadn't thought of. Us "regular non-tax expert" guys have a way of over-looking legitimate deductions if we're not careful. I think he'll do the best he can. He's going to email the results in case I have any questions.

I've used Tom now for the last 9 years and I've always gotten back more than I thought I would.

I'm glad to hear that. Where has my trust in my fellow man gone? I think it's my customer's fault. :Stick

Well, Fox, we came out okay and didn't have to pay. THAT was the main thing. I'll be giving him my business again. THANKS! 8)

You're more than welcome JR. I'm glad you didn't have to write Uncle Sam a check.
