Chuck Schumer is a fine example

I was watching Fox News not 5 minutes ago. Sen. Chuck Schumer was having a press conference with the head guy at Amtrac or one of the other rail systems. Schumer was suggesting that there be a "No Ride" list, similar to the "No Fly" list for air travel.

Anyway, he got to talking about how the rail system should review it's passenger list and compare it to the list of suspected terrorists. But instead of calling the passenger list a manifest, he called it a "manifold" not once but twice. :laugh

I thought okay, he just made a slip, but later in the speech he said it a third time. It's NOT a manifold you idiot I was yelling at the TV :Stick

Those politicians act like they are so highly educated and all knowing. 'Ol Chuck is a fine example of the Washington Elitist Establishment. I tried to find it on YouTube, but it must not be there yet. Surely I'm not the only person that caught that!

A manifold is the part of an engine that supplies the fuel/air mixture to the cylinders. An exhaust manifold or header collects the exhaust gases from multiple cylinders into one pipe.

A manifold is also a topological space that on a small enough scale resembles the Euclidean space of a specific dimension, called the dimension of the manifold.

A manifest in the context Schummer meant is a list of cargo and/or passengers. Huge difference between manifold and manifest.

I thought of googling, but I knew you all knew. :)
How the heck do you confuse those? I knew what a manifest is, actually I believe that most do, so how would you get that wrong? :huh

You have to be born a democrat. It's a birth defect and he needs our prayers :laugh
