Chevy Cruze Does Not Come With a Spare Tire or Jack

What it does come with is an electric air pump you plug into your cigarette lighter and a can of tire sealant. Though GM says the tire sealant will plug a hole up to a quarter of an inch; what do you do when your tire blows and shreds in the middle of a hot day in the middle of nowhere? You push the OnStar button and wait for help, if you're paying the monthly fee of $18.95 for that service.

From a practical standpoint, there might be some logic in this. I doubt most people today would know how or be able to change a tire.

However...I'm old school, so give me a spare tire.

I will add...I have, for years, carried tire plugs and a jumpstarter/inflater with me. I can't tell you how many times I have either rescued myself or someone else. But a couple of years ago I hit a drop-off in a construction site and busted a sidewall, and I had to change a tire 'cause a plug or some sealant isn't going to fix a busted sidewall.

I remember one time I was up by Jasper when my right front tire blew out at 55mph. When I got off on the side of the road, the tire was shredded. I'm glad I had a spare and a jack because a can of sealant and an electric air pump would have been useless.

Do you think? I don't know, even I know how to change a tire. Now am I going to? Nope, I pay to have that done for me. :cheer1

Sometimes spray sealant isn't any help...
