Lawd... I must have walked 100 miles over 3 days doing college campus tours. My big toe has a blister :'(

Anyway we went up to Nashville Sunday-Wed. Ashlyn went up there with Vandi in her heart but came home saying Belmont is the place for her. She bought a tshirt and hoodie and even stole a pen ( but asked before she stole it lol).

SO looks like she is gonna be a Belmont Bear...and I am 100% over joyed with that.... now to stress about paying the 35,000 a year ( which is 25 grand cheaper than vandi)

Can you not bribe the child and keep her in state and save a small fortune?

we needed to start eating ramen noodles 17 years ago ...lawd, parents need to start planning asap...

I did not and now stressing to the max

Im stressing right there with you Sadie! My kiddo's college is 31,500 or around about. Thank the good Lord she got several scholarships so far and is applying for several more. I can't pay for that at all so the more scholarships she gets the less she will have to get in student loans. I hate she will even have to do that, but there is no other way around it.

Wouldn't it be nice if we focused more of our collective tax dollars on educating our children? I'd love to see that happen.

How about letting us keep more of our tax dollars so we'd have more to pay for things like our children's education? If the government touches it, they will screw it up.

BTW- Your kid is going to LOVE IT there. It's the most beautiful state in America and middle TN is the crown jewel. So much history and culture. I can't wait to get there for good myself.

she is excited that you will be there...when I told her that her face lit up and she was like that is so awesome...I miss him

RNG knows this story, but I have just gone through the whole college thing. I was very lucky that I found a way to pay for it without going into debt.

When daughter started college 5 years ago, I knew I had to find answers. We didn't have that kind of money, and I was totally opposed to student loans because I didn't want debt to pay back.

I started yet another business at 50 years old, working some nights and weekends putting some of my other technical skills to work. I'm so very thankful that I have these skills to draw on or I don't know what I would have done. But it went really well, at least until the economy tanked. In about 2 years, I made enough to pay for her entire education. Work has since slowed down, but the side business did it's job. So now, college and the wedding is paid for in full with zero debt. It wasn't always fun working nights and weekends at my age, but I did what I had to do and I'm thankful that I was able to do that for the kiddo.

I miss y'all. I've never met a more fun loving family. I just told a friend that Chad can rap on command. That's one of the coolest things about him.

You're exactly what I was talking about in another thread. You had a problem and you worked to solve it. Congratulations, you're a free thinking, independent person. I know you're proud of that accomplishment.

Thanks Mark. I'm not the smartest guy around, but I don't know the meaning of the word failure and I rely on no one but myself when there are needs. It's just what my parents taught me, they were the same way.

I am proud of the accomplishment, but I'm more gratified that I could do this for my daughter. And now she's been able to start her new life unencumbered by debts like student loans.

that so awesome.... you are one of the lucky ones. I told Chad he was gonna have to sell everything from blood( he has a rare type ), sperm and organs

unfortunately we will have to go the student loan route. we will apply for all the aid, scholarships and she will work as well on campus
