I believe it was more news organizations than just CNN and the NYT. Mohammad is the Muslim prophet so I do not see an issue with their statement in the article not to show the prophet. (That is a factual statement in that he is considered a prophet, maybe not mine or yours, but that is what he is considered. Ok, I will say verbally describing it is stupid, either show it or not, but I also believe there were other covers done by that magazine that news outlets would not show. (They have done some pretty out there cover art...)
