NASCAR race is on right now. I'll be watching the Braves games. I'm not a fan of sports getting political but I can ignore it.

I can't! It's suppose to be entertainment, but it has become liberal propaganda. Adios American sports, hello Canadians. I've always liked Hockey, and i"m growing rather fond of Curling while drinking a Molson Golden!
 
Interesting the guys on the radio this AM said Baseball does not really have any African American big stars. They said the stellar athletes even in High Schools tend to go to basketball and football right now, not so much baseball. Then he said, "I don't know if I can say this, I might get in trouble, but the best athletes seem to be African American. They are choosing mostly football and basketball to play."

Then the guys on the radio started some banter and said well, there are a few black players in baseball but they are from the Dominican Republic. He basically did not know how much baseball would be in your face about BLM. They all sort of thought opening day you may see some, but it may die out. They agreed that they did not watch sports to be bombarded by political stuff... that was the safe space to not think about politics.

Their observation was that they did not think the BLM on everything while you watch the game of baseball would be as pervasive due to the differences in the sports demographics now.

I don't think they were saying baseball did not require athleticism, they were saying there seems to be more black athletes who gravitate to Basketball and Football today versus baseball currently, it was not that way decades ago. The stars in baseball right now tend to be white guys. They said they think this generation prefers basketball and football through marketing of shoes and clothing represented by star personalities. Lots of strong black role models now in those two sports.

They said it has changed because they remember as kids that most of the top stars of baseball they rooted for were black. I am not a sports person, so I can't tell you their names, but they rattled off baseball greats who were black.
 
They’re burning up all their runs early again the season (or half-season...whatever). They’re good at that. Their fans are lifeless too, can nobody start the wave?
