Since your daughter is a student, you...I mean she could purchase the student version of Office for far less and you get three licenses. You'll also get powerpoint, excells, etc. No Outlook though.

Or, you can download Open Office for free. Completely compatible with MS Office, just not quite as cute.

Ohhh, I....I mean she really needs that! :))

Thanks. This Asus seems to be a good little computer. I'm not using it at the moment because the Wi-Fi here is protected by some kind of secret squirrel protection.

I'll get one eventually. I'm taking baby steps....it probably pushed the envelope that I got a second DVR last month. The last thing I'd get away with this soon would be an extra charge on my Verizon bill. :-X

Mine is a business need, so the company pays for it. Sure is handy though, even for personal use. I end up using it even when on vacation because it's usually faster than the WiFi in motels. Last time we went away, I used it to stream music in and watch TV shows from Hulu. Plugged the headphone jack into a boombox I carry to get better sound. Had a mini home theater in the motel room.

'Course, I'm geeky like that.

I purchased Microsoft Office 2010 at the PX for $79. Unfortunately it contained Outlook for a 30 day trial period. Now I need to purchase Outlook, but it will cost me $139.

I have no idea. I know my son gets lots of stuff from Newegg.com and I think Mwave sells Offie but not word by itself. It's $124.99 plus 1.99 shipping from Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=ms+word+2010

My Asus came with a trial period, but a window keeps popping up asking for the code. Oh well, I guess I'll suck it up an buy it. Word was the main software I needed. I got the thing to write.

Thanks naturegirl, I'll check out the link. ;D

JR, I have an older version of MS Office (2002 I think) that no longer needs licensed due to it's age. Add the correct patches and it will open Word 2007, there may be one for 2010. It's free if you want it. We use it on some of our computers and it does the job, just not as cutsey as the newer versions.

Hey, I may have to take you up on that. If it can BOLD, Italics, double space and print, I'm GOOD! 8)

Maybe when we hook up next week. I'm still going to fish around, but the outlook ain't good. I was even thinking I could get the 2007 version at a better price, but no luck.

I couldn't believe it. I go out in the garage and see a Word 2007 box on an old sofa table we stored down there. I tried the product key and it worked! I don't recall unsing it before...either that or it permitted more than one use.

The Good Lord smiled on me today, but thanks for all the help and suggestion. :D :D
