Bed Sheets

Rolling down the highway
So what kind do you prefer?? I have several of the old percale sheet sets 1/2 cotton and 1/2 polyester (280 tread count). I also have several of the Egyptian Cotton (600-800 thread counts)sets too. I really don't see that much of a difference except the durn cotton ones are super wrinkled. I'm not ironing any sheet and I don't like sleeping on wrinkled ones either. I pull them out of the dryer and fold them immediately, both kinds. but the percale sheets are just smoother...........so what's all the hype??

Which do you prefer and why?

I'm not up on all that thread count stuff, I just know I like some of ours better than others. We recently went up to a king bed, so we had to buy all new. One set we got at Sam's is really nice.

I love, love, love my sheets. They are Sferra. The fabric is luxurious and honestly I have taken my own bedding on vacation before because I love them that much, really. You either have to order them or if you go to Atlanta/Buckhead much there are a few boutique stores that carry them.
I have a steam dryer so I have never had them come out wrinkled, but even before that I did not have a problem. I would always shake my sheets prior to tossing in the dryer and dry on a lower setting. I take them out as soon as the bell tings and fold them. Now granted it is not military wrinkle free, but they only have a few. :)

I'm not really good at buying sheets because I want the sets that are out of my price range and refuse to buy the cheap stuff. So I always ask my mom to give me some for Christmas or my birthday. She somehow always manages to find the softest, smoothest sheets without spending a fortune. I love my mom. :love

I love the higher thread count. The others are rougher. For the longest time I always got the lower count, and didn't know the difference. When I bought the higher count, I immediately felt the difference. I am in the process of replacing our sheets, one set at a time.

Egyptian cotton and never anything less than 800 ct. I do pretty much what Shoe Diva does in laundering and drying. We have a king size bed with a padded top and by the time the sheets are on over the mattress pad I don't see any wrinkles.

btw, thanks Shoe Diva for the sferra suggestion. :thumbsup

I looked up those sheets and they are gorgeous! Which line do you usually buy?

Always buy the best sheets you can afford. You spend about a 1/3 of your life with them. I prefer 100% Egyptian cotton. I restrict myself to 2-3 sets per bed. Easier for storage, and less expensive on the pocketbook. I always watch for sales, coupons, etc. I've lucked up several times at Kohl's with either buying from the clearance rack, or catching a 50% off sale and using a $10 coupon.

Right now I have been getting the Presidio sheets. I have the plain Milos (I think that is the name, but they are the plain) too. Husband does not want any of the frilly edges, cut outs, or even the damask ones. He is okay with me getting them so I am okay with that. :D

Sorry, my friend - that dog don't hunt. You mentioned buying sheets at Sam's in a previous post, and there's not a gay man in America who would admit to that. :D
