You're kidding!? A 30% loyalty discount to the passengers of the Costa Concordia..do you feel like it's a slap in the face to the passengers?

Really.. I think a FULL REFUND Plus a free cruise anywhere is more like it... I feel a lawsuit coming on

I heard a news report that said they are getting a full refund and that discount for future cruises

My dear, sweet, kind, Southern lady mother said, "Well, if I wasn't already gonna sue, I'd sue now." That's just a total slap in the face. How about free cruises once a year for life? I mean, we're not talking a missed port here...those people were close to death and the ship's captain and most of the crew ABANDONED them. The only reason they didn't die is God's grace. I say 30% off future cruises. Yeah, right. I'd so tell them what they could do with their 30%. :fuming:

Whoever is handling Carnival's PR should be summarily fired.

I think the body county is up to 17 or some such, but I meant the vast majority of passengers could have died. I mentioned Carnival, because the cruise line is owned by Carnival, and I believe Carnival is the one who's been spear-heading contacting passengers, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they have to pull an AirTran and rebrand the cruise line after this. Talk about bad publicity. OTOH, I'm sure there's not a better time to go on a cruise than right now...can you imagine how careful everybody's being?

PS - I hate Carnival. I'm sorry they now own Princess and Cunard. :(

As for suing, everyone suffered at the very least a monetary loss due to Carnival's employee's negligence, and some lost their lives. That's obvious. They need to be offering a lot more than refunds and cruise discounts, they need to be offering bookoo cash money right now if they don't want to see a huge class action suit. These people stand to practically own Carnival if and when this thing goes to court.

Exactamundo. I can't believe their lawyers and PR people aren't screaming at them to do just that. Ye gods.

Don't worry, those sharks swarming around the ship are really lawyers - it's going to cost them more than 30% off.

Interesting Question:

Who will have jurisdiction over the lawsuits, Italy, the scene of the accident, country of registry of the Concordia, and home of Costa Cruise lines; The US, home office of Carnival Cruise Lines, the parent company; or the home country of the suing passenger? Inquiring minds want to know.

Do you folks have no heart? They lost $95 mil on the ship. stirthepot2
Which was probably insured for closer to $200M.

Which their own employee wrecked. ;)

and this poor poor employee just happened to fall in a life boat heading to shore while his crew and passengers were still aboard... you know he was worried for them :BH

I believe I read that there is already a class action suit of some sort in FL. Apparently it has been determined thus far that each passenger will get somewhere between $150,000 and $1.5M. I'll have to dig up that story and see if I'm remembering it correctly. I'd guess it would be US passengers and against Carnival.

ETA: Ok, I was a little off but the suit is coming and it will be filed in Miami...

...The newspaper noted that a class action set to be filed soon in Miami reportedly will seek $150,000 to $1.5 million per passenger...

I suppose perhaps it depends on whether they sue Costa or Carnival? As in Italy for Costa and the US for Carnival? I initially thought the home country of the passenger wouldn't have jurisdiction, but I just don't know. Any lawyers on here? Lisa C and Beach Bum - you're close enough for gubment work ( :D )...what do you think?

Certainly not saying it isn't possible but, based on his other actions, I find it very difficult to put any faith in that man.
