I've had all my household expenses (utilities, insurance, cable, etc.) set up on auto pay for decades.
Recently, I needed to switch bank accounts away from the one I had been using. Called Greystone, they handled it in just a few minutes. Called my Farmer's Insurance agent, less than 3 minutes. Logged onto Scana Energy, ditto. Ditto with Comcast.
And, then there's Paulding County Water. They wanted me to bring by, or mail them, a "voided check". Seriously? Who the hell uses checks any more? Just maybe if those butt-heads would spend some of our money updating their website and computer systems vs building fancy office space, they'd be able to join the 21st century. They refused to take my routing and account information over the phone. Have to fill out a paper form and either mail or bring it to their office. Flash!!! This ain't 1960 any more. Most of their customers have a full set of teeth and can read and write.
