I woke up this morning to freezing rain. There wasn't any snow in the mountains around us yesterday, but there is today. They say we will most likely get an inch of snow today with the freezing rain. It is really cold here. I looked for my gloves in my bags and they aren't there, which means I forgot to pack them. Crap! At least I have my heavy leather bomber jacket, watchcap and boots. I guess my hands will be in my pockets while outside.

Happy Winter!!!

I hate the cold! Can you get gloves over there? Seems like the military should take care of you.

The PX here is very small and doesn't carry them. I ordered some through the US Cav store online though. They'll be shipped Dec 2. I can't wait until they get here. In the meantime, I'll walk around outside with my hands in my pocket. :laugh

I checked out the weather forecast for the next week. Tuesday, the high temp is supposed to reach the upper 50s.

I would love to volunteer my security experience, but have decided to wait for a conflict in a warmer climate :suntn

Is that too selfish of me? :whistle

:Ninja

:p

:laugh

STAY WARM DUDE!

It is now 17:17 hrs and much colder than it was when I woke up this morning. It is presently snowing with a mixture of sleet. YUCK! I wonder if the Afghanis are flocking to their local grocery store? :laugh

Our bathroom/shower facilities are seperate from our barracks, which means you have to walk outside into the terrible weather and walk to them. Add to that, you have to walk on top of about 3 inches of gravel during the 100' walk. When I go take a shower, I walk there in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt whiile wearing flip flops on my feet. You wear the flip flops in the shower to reduce the chances of getting athelete's foot. It's kind of difficult walking on that gravel in flip flops. There's no room in the shower facility to get dressed and carry a bunch of stuff with you.

I'll be glad for the day I'm back home.

Fox, put some socks on your hands to move from one place to another. I doubt you could use your hands much so not sure it would be safe if you needed to get to your gun quickly. Just a thought.

Hey Fox, will Pakistan shutting down NATO supply lines to Afghanistan affect your ability to receive things like the gloves you ordered and items we might send to you?

It won't affect us in that way at all as mail is flown in on our military aircraft. What will be effected will be those items that come via ship and port in Pakistan. Those items are then transported via trucks to Afghanistan. I would suspect this will have an effect on fuel supplies to us.
