A close call

Early this afternoon I decided to mow the yard. Our back yard is pretty large and has a 6 foot privacy fence all the way around for the dogs. There is a doggie door from the kitchen to the screen porch and from the screen porch door to the deck to the back yard. I always close off the kitchen doggie door when I mow the back so they can't get out. Did I mention you can't see the mower access gate from the porch?

So I mowed the back and then the front. Mrs. Reacher was watering the new plants and I checked the tire pressure in all the vehcile tires. When finshed, Mrs. Reacher and I set out on the screen porch for about 30 minutes until she wondered where the dogs were. We searched the house and couldn't find them anywhere.

I said there's no way they could get out of the house. I went out on the driveway just in case and saw that I had left the gate open  When Mrs. Reacher had gone out on the porch, they had followed her. She had no idea the gate was left open. Our heart sunk! :'( It's amazing how attached you can get to your pets. Especially with Daughter Reacher growing up and starting her own life. I thought Mrs. Reacher was going to cry. :'(

I ran and got into the truck and drove around the neighborhood. I saw Marty and Bella running along together on the route we take them walking. I felt so relieved. They ran to me and let me plop them in the truck for the ride home. Mrs. Reacher was so happy when we got back. I thank the Lord for those little dogs and allowing me to find them safe. This will sound silly to those without pets that have become part of the family, but those of you who understand.....well....you understand. :D

Totally understand and I'm so glad you found your babies!!!

We are thankful to. They would probably have made their way home after the run, but I know how people pick up dogs. My neice and her husband lost their dog and just happened to see it in a neighbor's back fence 2 years later. You'd like to think people would make an attempt the find the dog's owners, but many will not.

Oh I thank the Lord with you Lil Bro that you found your babies. :love I would be an absolute wreck.

I know you understand, Sis. How's your baby doing?

Mrs. Reacher is stronger than I. I would have been crying at the first thought my baby got out! I am so happy I am reading they were found and brought home after their trip out!!!

I'm glad you found them! Our dogs are also like family and I'm not sure what I would do if one of them got lost!
