Rep. Lindsey Graham: NATO Nations Need To Meet Spending Obligations

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham says Donald Trump is right to want NATO countries to meet their obligations on defense spending.

During an interview with CBS‘s ‘Face The Nation’ on Sunday, Graham (R-S.C.) said that North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) members who do not pay their fair share in defense spending should be removed from the organization.

According to the senator, a majority of NATO nations currently do not meet the requirement of spending 2% of their gross domestic product on defense.

On one hand, Graham wants NATO countries not paying their fair share kicked out. On the other hand, he has supported giving $75 billion to Ukraine and supports giving them more. Why?

"Speaker Johnson met with President Trump in Florida on Monday to discuss growing the majority and securing Republican victories up and down the ballot in November," Johnson campaign spokesman Greg Steele told Fox News Digital.

JOHNSON: You have to understand that we need to increase our majority in the House and need to get the majority in the Senate. To do that, we need to support those who are currently in office and are running for reelection. Whether you like them or not, you have to support them if you're the nominee. We have candidates who are running for open seats and closely contested seats. You also need to support them.

The last thing we need is for you to do what you did in 2022 that prevented us from achieving the red wave. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT endorse any wannabe who has no experience other than kissing your butt. If you can't do that, then you will ruin the GOP.

One can only hope.

DeSantis could bring over some of his faithful, but might be a liability on the abortion issue. Probably a net plus though. Y'all don't make too much of the apparent animosity between the two men; it's just politics as usual. Since Ron dropped out, both have been slapping each other on the back again.

I think Vivek would be a mistake at this time. Too many questions about him, and he's lacking in experience

Tulsi could bring some independents and maybe help with the female vote, but might also turn conservatives off. I still suspect this has been in the works for a long time, and I wouldn't be surprised if she is already Trump's choice. I'm not necessarily approving of this, I just have the gut feeling it's been the plan all along.

Tim Scott might be the safest bet, he is widely liked and respected. No downside that I can think of. Would he help with the black vote? Not so sure, there is some precedent to indicate black Republicans tend to be shunned by blacks who typically vote Democrat. I really don't understand this, but apparently some truth to it.

He would be a fool to name Gabbard as his running mate. Here is a good op-ed piece on her.

I struggle to find any coherence in Gabbard’s political philosophy or strategy but, as a lifelong conservative, one possible answer may be that the Republican Party has left us. It has become the kind of MAGA party that is attractive to people like Lake (a former Obama voter), Donald Trump (a former Clinton supporter), Kanye “George Bush doesn't care about black people” West, Dr. Mehmet Oz (of Oprah fame), and now, the ex-Bernie-booster Tulsi Gabbard.

Tulsi didn’t have to pay her dues or show her conservative credentials—all she had to do is slam her own party. Instant MAGA stardom!
Having used her perch in Congress to establish a platform, she is now transitioning into her new role as celebrity influencer. It’s the political version of the Kardashians. And make no mistake, image is everything. Megyn Kelly recently suggested Gabbard should run for president with South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, saying it would be “the best-looking ticket ever.”

I'm not sure how this election will play out. I'll vote Trump and all republicans and I do hope they win, but the women vote is probably going to sway toward democrat because of 1 issue (abortion.) Forget the economy, crime, immigration, taxes and 10,000 other issues. Women want the right to murder their unborn with zero consequences and they'll probably show up in force. Democrats will bring us 4 more years of economic turmoil, war, famine, Sodom & Gomorrah. You ain't seen nothing yet.

Hopefully the main issues this cycle will be immigration, foreign wars, and the economy. In no particular order.

The main 4 issues that will be covered by the media this election cycle are the 4 criminal trials Trump is involved in. Everything else will be minimized.
Yes, but how much effect will it have? The public has been blanketed with this stuff for so long now, it's just blah blah blah to large degree. The Trump haters will still get their cookies from it, but most of the people who like or are sympathetic to Trump really don't care.

There's some indication that the Democrats have overplayed their hand, especially since the NY ruling. Even some on the left are seeing this for what it is.

All the negativity has worn thin. The voters are ripe for a message of vision and hope. I think Trump is at least trying to give them that.
