Yum, those poppers were so good

Rolling down the highway
I made some more yesterday. I actually used some sweetheart peppers to make some, too. I think they were almost as good as the jalapeno poppers, but I think I'll add a little more "heat" to the cheese mixture next time. Think I'll try with some of those wax peppers.

At least the peppers have been pretty reliable so far. They had a slow start but are showing out right now.

The wife loooooooved them.

I could use some of them today.
Wife's at work and there is nothing to eat in the house.
(except....well you know)

Thank you NG for the poppers you brought to the party. They were the bomb! I know I ate most of them,; those fresh from your garden jalapenos were soooooooooo good. I know you told me what you use for the stuffing, but I do need it written down, please! There were only 4 left (out of probably 50), and I ate them while I was cleaning up! :love

You can make spaghetti sauce, salsa, tomato soup just to name a few things that can be done with maters. Just make sure you have the right spices. ;D

That recipe was so easy..........of course I quadrupled it.

5 Jalapenos cut in half and seeds removed
4 oz. cream cheese- softened
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/8 tsp. chili powder
1/8 tsp. cumin
salt and pepper to taste
bread crumbs for sprinkling on top (I used Italian style bread crumbs).

Mix cream cheese, cheddar cheese, chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper. Stuff jalapenos with cream cheese mixture. Place in small casserole dish and sprinkle bread crumbs on top of jalapenos. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

I didn't have poppers (I wasn't there, lol) but I can say you have good peppers, NG! I've been meaning to tell you and I keep forgetting. The peppers you gave me have done well: I use the banana and wax on homemade pizza and the others Ive tossed in the crockpot with pork or chicken when making enchiladas or something along that line. I've only had one bell, though. It was sliced and fried with onions for fajitas one night.

Nom nom nom nom Ive even had enough to send a bag down to my neighbor who is going to can some and make salsa.

Unfortunately, my tomatoes didnt make it. They died before I got any maters. I'm not sure what happened.

It was just too wet and not enough sun to make good maters. We got 25 quarts of cut tomatoes and 4 quarts of tomato sauce.........that's it out of 70 plants. We usually get about a quart per plant. Some of my peppers struggled but the ones that made it are doing great now. We've had some for a couple of months but they're going crazy now.

That's what I was thinking but wasn't sure. The peppers have been going nuts for a while now, and showing no signs of slowing down. I'm hoping my neighbor can show me how to can. It has been a real treat to walk out and pick my own peppers. We never got beyond peppers, tomatoes, and strawberries. My strawberries have gone nuts, and the vines are all over. Man they are good; BabyB gets one off everything he goes out, lol.

Sorry for the hijack. :soashamed

You can just wash and cut the peppers, take out the seeds and freeze them. They won't be crunchy but you can use them for cooking many things. I always freeze about 10 quarts.

Ill do that. I have a question: can I save the seeds and plant them next year? How do I save them?

I freeze bells all the time if I get a good deal (usually at Aldi) on them. I use a lot of recipes that call for bell peppers.

Yes you can save seeds, but they may not come true as the original if you have more than one type planted. The cross pollination may make jalapeno's not so hot or put a little spice in those bells. I never hurts to try.

If you want them to come back the same, just plant one variety or plant others pretty far away so the bees won't get pollen from the hot one and move over to the sweet pepper.
