Yay!! I'm a cheese connoisseur, my parents lived in Wisconsin for 15 years. LOL

Looky there!
Had it saved on the space station. (laptop)

Like Papi said, DO NOT SKIMP ON THE CHEESE!!
I use Boar's Head Black Wax Sharp Yellow Cheddar Cheese.
Find it at your local Kroger Deli.

Ingredients:
• 1 (16 ounce) package macaroni
• 8 tablespoons butter
• 8 tablespoons flour
• 2 cups milk
• 2 cups cream
• 1 teaspoon salt
• fresh ground black pepper, to taste
• 4 cups cheddar cheese, shredded good quality
• 1 cup panko breadcrumbs, buttered

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
2. Cook and drain macaroni according to package directions; set aside.
3. In a large saucepan melt butter.
4. Add flour mixed with salt and pepper, using a whisk to stir until well blended.
5. Pour milk and cream in gradually; stirring constantly.
6. Bring to boiling point and boil 2 minutes (stirring constantly).
7. Reduce heat and cook (stirring constantly) 10 minutes.
8. Add shredded cheddar little by little and simmer an additional 5 minutes, or until cheese melts.
9. Turn off flame.
10. Add macaroni to the saucepan and toss to coat with the cheese sauce.
11. Transfer macaroni to a buttered baking dish.
12. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
13. Bake 20 minutes until the top is golden brown.

You can also freeze this recipe in zip-lock bags for later use - once you have mixed the macaroni along with the cheese sauce allow to cool to room temperature before adding to your freezer - I generally pull it out the night before and allow macaroni and cheese to reach room temperature; I then add the macaroni and cheese to a buttered baking dish, sprinkle with bread crumbs and then bake for 20 to 30 minutes, until golden brown on top and bubbling.

Oh Yea!! Doing the happy dance!! Off to Kroger for the cheese!!

:dancingchicken :dancingchicken :dancingchicken

Well, I didn't get to it. We didn't have any mac-n-cheese :( I was just too tired to make it. I'll be using the recipe soon though. I love mac-n-cheese!!

Well darn!!

Here's the secret ingredient for when you do make it................ready.............................wait for it..........................................

Garlic Powder.
Just a sprinkle for extra flavor.
Not on the recipe so don't tell anyone or I'll have to kill you. :B_S

Is it the creamy mac & cheese or the firm, casserole type?

Creamy if you pop it oven right away.
Firmer if you make a day ahead of time and fridgerdate then cook.

I'll have to try it then - I don't like the firm mac & cheese.

P.S. You do realize that most of the people on this board would never have realized your misspelling... (Not mentioning any names, GD)...

Spelling is a good to know, even though spell check is available. Cursive is not necessary in this day and age beyond a signature and sometimes you do not even need that. (But we have discussed all this ad nauseam haven't we? :) )
