I think the left and the media (is that redundant?) is making too much of the GOP losses. It's fairly typical for the party in power to lose some seats in non-presidential year elections.
But having said...the GOP does need to work on it's popularity ratings, and more importantly Trump's ratings or they might be looking at a blood bath in the mid-terms. Now personally, I wouldn't care less about the GOP losing, except that any seats they lose will almost certainly go Democrat, and if enough of them do we'll have almost no chance at fixing some of the problems we need desperately to deal with. And it's not like the GOP has been getting a lot done even with majorities in both houses; so it's not looking very good.
