I think the left and the media (is that redundant?) is making too much of the GOP losses. It's fairly typical for the party in power to lose some seats in non-presidential year elections.

But having said...the GOP does need to work on it's popularity ratings, and more importantly Trump's ratings or they might be looking at a blood bath in the mid-terms. Now personally, I wouldn't care less about the GOP losing, except that any seats they lose will almost certainly go Democrat, and if enough of them do we'll have almost no chance at fixing some of the problems we need desperately to deal with. And it's not like the GOP has been getting a lot done even with majorities in both houses; so it's not looking very good.

Somebody needs to slap Trump and get him to fix this public image of his.

I have to say that the drubbing in Virginia is statement even though Virginia is purple. It's purple states that will be decisive in 2020. A few more like that and even The Donald will have to pay attention. The US House news was better though.

I never thought the GOP had much of a chance at winning in VA. The last two governors were Democrats and Trump lost the general election there. NJ is a blue state to begin with and I didn't expect a Republican to win there either, even though the office has been held by a member of the GOP for the past 8 years.

What really pisses me off about the VA race is the tweet Trump made afterward; that Gillespie lost because he didn't embrace Trump. We need to face the facts here about Trump; he's a narcissist through and through. He believes Gillespie lost because he didn't embrace Trump. By that reasoning Luther Strange who he not just endorsed, but went to Alabama to campaign for should have won. He not only got beat in the primary, but beat soundly by almost 11% of the vote. Not the "yuge" victory Trump was predicting.

My fear is that the GOP is going to lose seats during the mid-term and it's going to be because Trump keeps getting on Twitter and sending out the most ridiculous statements. Not only that, he can't keep his mouth shut when he should keep it shut. I really think he's starting to become an embarrassment because his mouth keeps the MSM focused on the stupid stuff he constantly tweets and says, rather than the work he's doing. Trump is his own worst political press agent.
